Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to perform vehicle and trailer maintenance and repairs with minimal supervision. You will work with other mechanics or supervisors on highly technical tasks and use diagnostic tools to identify and fix issues.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, component replacements, brake and suspension work, and basic facility upkeep. Experience with shop management systems and diagnostic software is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience performing basic to moderately difficult vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Familiarity with shop management systems and electronic record keeping.
• Identify root causes and perform repairs with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic to moderately difficult vehicle maintenance, component replacements, and repairs.
• Maintain, repair, inspect, and replace brakes, steering, suspension, tires, lights, and other systems as needed.
• Perform facility maintenance duties as required.
• Operate shop management and other electronic systems for work orders and tracking.
• Diagnose problems using diagnostics equipment and determine root causes.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Perform the majority of truck and/or trailer maintenance and repairs with minimal support of others, ensuring that equipment is available and in optimal operating condition. Work with the assistance of other mechanics or supervisors when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs. Work under minimal supervision, exercising some judgment and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform basic to moderately difficult vehicle and preventive maintenance, component replacements, and repairs
• Maintain, repair, inspect, and/or replace brakes, steering mechanisms, springs, air bags, lights, air conditioners, water, fuel, oil, air filters, coolant and chemicals, transmissions, tire air pressure, tire tread, tires, chassis, drive lines, u-joints, air tanks, batteries, air lines, power cords, wipers, mirrors, drive train components, or other equipment as necessary
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Use shop management system and other electronic systems available
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root cause of failures/conditions and perform repairs as required|n
