Job summary

Alamo Colleges District is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to direct the accounting function, including reconciliations and journal entries, and to improve processes across the district and related entities.

The role reports to the Department of Finance and Fiscal Services and requires supervisory experience and a strong background in accounting, ideally with higher education or nonprofit experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Five years of accounting experience.
• Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs the accounting function including reconciliations, processes, journal entries and documentation.
• Supports Finance and Fiscal Services staff, colleges, external auditors, and other customers.
• Provides recommendations to ensure consistent application of financial policies across balance sheet, revenues and expenses.

Job Summary and Description

Directs the accounting function relative to reconciliations, accounting processes, preparation of journal entries and required supporting documentation and process improvement for Alamo Colleges and its related entities. Provides required assistance to Finance and Fiscal Services staff as well as to colleges, external auditors and other Alamo Colleges’ customers. Provides recommendations to ensure financial policies are consistently applied for all balance sheet, revenues and expenses accounts.

Reports to the Department of Finance and Fiscal Services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.
• Five years of accounting experience.
• Supervisory experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Higher education or non-profit accounting experience.
