About the Role

The Field Quality team helps protect Lucid’s customer experience by turning real-world vehicle learnings into measurable product and process improvements. The team partners across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Service, Warranty, and Reliability to identify trends, resolve emerging concerns, and strengthen vehicle performance in the field. What makes this team unique is its direct connection between customer feedback and engineering action, giving the team visibility across the full product lifecycle from design intent through production, service, and long-term fleet performance.

As a Senior Field Quality Engineer, Harnesses & Hoses, you will serve as the technical owner for field quality investigations related to electrical distribution and fluid conveyance systems across Lucid vehicles. This role reports to a Field Quality leadership role and exists to close the loop between customer-facing concerns, technical root cause analysis, and lasting corrective action. In the first 12 months, you will own investigations from issue identification through validated resolution, with success measured by faster root cause identification, reduced repeat issues, stronger corrective action effectiveness, and clearer alignment across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Service, and Warranty teams. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-complexity EV systems where field data, hands-on vehicle investigation, and cross-functional decision-making directly influence product quality and customer satisfaction.

What You Own
  • Field Investigations: Lead end-to-end investigations for customer concerns involving harnesses, connectors, terminals, routing systems, hoses, tubing, fittings, clamps, seals, and fluid delivery systems, and determine root cause through data analysis, vehicle inspections, testing, teardown reviews, and engineering input.
  • Corrective Action: Drive permanent corrective and preventive actions that address confirmed failure mechanisms, including containment, design updates, manufacturing improvements, supplier actions, and service procedure changes.
  • Trend Identification: Monitor warranty claims, service repair data, parts returns, customer concerns, and field reports to identify emerging trends, prioritize risk, and recommend action before issues expand across the fleet.
  • Design Feedback: Partner with Design Engineering to apply field learnings to current and future vehicle programs, including design reviews, requirement evaluations, DFMEA updates, and engineering changes that improve reliability.
  • Manufacturing Alignment: Evaluate assembly processes, station controls, installation methods, and process variation that may contribute to field failures, and align with Manufacturing Engineering and Plant Quality on sustainable improvements.
  • Supplier Resolution: Collaborate with Supplier Quality and supplier engineering teams to validate component-related root causes, assess manufacturing controls, and confirm corrective action effectiveness.
  • Quality Escalation: Assess technical severity, occurrence, and customer impact for field issues, and provide data-based recommendations for containment, prioritization, validation, and leadership escalation.
What You Bring
  • 5 years of experience in automotive engineering, quality engineering, reliability engineering, manufacturing engineering, supplier quality, field quality, or a related technical discipline.
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience leading structured root cause investigations and corrective action development for product or process quality concerns.
  • Working knowledge of electrical harness assemblies, connectors, terminals, routing systems, vehicle electrical distribution architectures, and/or fluid delivery systems such as cooling, pneumatics, HVAC, hoses, and tubing.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting automotive warranty, service engineering, field quality, or customer issue resolution activities.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, test reports, DFMEAs, PFMEAs, control plans, and process documentation.
  • Experience with wiring harness manufacturing processes, connector systems, terminal technologies, high-voltage systems, EV electrical architectures, thermal management systems, coolant routing systems, HVAC plumbing, or hose manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with vehicle diagnostics, DTC analysis, telematics data, and service repair operations.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, 8D, RCCA, Fishbone Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and statistical problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience working directly with suppliers to validate root causes and corrective actions.
  • Experience within premium automotive, EV, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on hard surfaces in a production or service environment.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to handle tools, inspect components, support teardown activity, and work with vehicle parts and assemblies.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly; occasional heavier lifting may require assistance.
  • Reaching and Bending: Routine reaching, bending, twisting, kneeling, and squatting may be required while inspecting vehicles, components, and work areas.
  • Repetitive Motions: Repeated arm, hand, and wrist movements may be required during inspection, testing, documentation, and component handling activities.
  • Climbing: Occasional use of steps or approved access equipment may be required to inspect vehicles or work areas at different heights.
