About the Company

Our client is a rapidly scaling factoring company specializing in transportation and general portfolios. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a key hire who can bring senior-level underwriting expertise, leadership ability, and the confidence to help shape the future of their credit platform.

Position Overview

The Senior Factoring Underwriter will serve as a critical member of the credit team, responsible not only for underwriting complex factoring transactions but also for leading, mentoring, and developing a small underwriting team. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in both transportation and general commercial factoring, solid credit approval authority, and the ability to introduce structure, process, and elevated credit standards across a growing organization.

This is not a purely transactional role; our client is looking for someone with leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and the desire to build a best-in‑class underwriting function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and approve transportation and general factoring transactions in alignment with company credit policy and risk appetite.
  • Exercise personal credit approval authority and provide informed recommendations on higher‑limit or complex relationships.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of underwriters, providing training, setting expectations, and establishing accountability.
  • Build, refine, and implement consistent underwriting processes, policies, and credit standards as the company scales.
  • Conduct detailed credit and collateral analysis, including debtor creditworthiness, concentration risks, aging review, risk scores, and monitoring tools.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership and portfolio teams to support portfolio health, onboarding quality, and risk management strategies.
  • Identify areas for improvement and introduce tools, technologies, and workflows that enhance underwriting effectiveness and speed.
  • Represent underwriting in cross‑functional conversations related to product, operations, compliance, and client relationships.
  • Support a fast‑paced, relationship‑driven environment with a high degree of responsiveness and professionalism.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in factoring underwriting, including both transportation and general commercial portfolios.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or leading an underwriting team, with a demonstrated ability to train and develop talent.
  • Established credit approval authority in a factoring or asset‑based lending environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with deep experience reviewing debtor credit, collateral structures, risk scores, and monitoring tools.
  • Proven ability to create structure, implement process, and uphold credit discipline within a growing organization.
  • Comfortable working directly with business owners and executive leaders in a relationship‑focused finance environment.
  • Self‑starter with strong communication skills, a team mindset, and a willingness to take ownership of outcomes.
Why This Role Matters

This is a pivotal hire for a company in high‑growth mode. The right candidate will help shape the credit culture, build scalable processes, and provide leadership during a crucial expansion period. If you are looking for an opportunity to have a meaningful strategic impact, not just work a queue, this is an outstanding opportunity.
