Apple seeks an extraordinary engineering program manager (EPM) to help our Traffic team deliver innovative infrastructure solutions at large scale. You will partner with multiple teams to build and support infrastructure such as load balancers and proxies within Apple Cloud Infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in software development project management for infrastructure, strong knowledge of traffic at Layer-4/7, and experience with Envoy/Istio.

Competenze

• 8+ years leading software development projects in infrastructure, preferably traffic, networking or compute.
• Experience with traffic management at Layer-4 or Layer-7.
• Experience managing Layer-4/7 traffic meshes (Envoy, Istio) and control planes.
• Experience in Cloud and Infrastructure projects.
• Agile project experience with evidence
• Ability to prioritize features and technical roadmaps.
• Strong delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects.

Description

Cloud Infrastructure team, as part of the Apple Services Engineering team, is seeking an extraordinary engineering program manager (EPM) that can help our Traffic team deliver innovative product solutions that will shape the future of large scale infrastructure at Apple.We are building and supporting critical infrastructural systems and frameworks which provide and support services like load balancers, Traffic mesh, proxies for Apple Cloud Infrastructure, which is the platform upon which many iCloud and other backend systems at Apple are built.We're a fast paced organization with ambitious goals, a large user base, and the autonomy to build the future of Compute and Storage infrastructure for all of Apple. Teams across Apple rely on us for infrastructure that help them build services that scale globally, are highly available, and "just work".We listen to different perspectives, help surface innovative ideas, and drive decisions that move us forward. You'll need a strong background in program and project management complemented by your technical abilities.

Responsibilities

• You'll partner with a diverse set of teams across Apple to provide them with groundbreaking infrastructure for Traffic that operate at substantial scale and use open source technologies along with proprietary systems.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in software development project management in Infrastructure domains preferably Traffic, networking or compute
• Understanding of traffic management at scale at Layer 4 or 7 of the network OSI model
• Experience managing projects with Layer-4 or Layer-7 traffic meshes (e.g., Envoy or Istio) and control plane technology
• Experience managing Cloud and Infrastructure projects.
• Agile project experience with evidence and able to demonstrate knowledge
• Experience at prioritizing features, and technical road maps
• Proficiency and experience in delivering large scale infrastructure projects
• BA/BS degree in a technical field or equivalent industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Exceptional organizational, project management, and technical acumen
• SCRUM background and/or played the role of a Scrum Master is plus
• Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to represent at all levels of the organization
• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous end to end infrastructure, technical projects and stakeholder community comprising of various engineering teams and their partners
• Experience at end to end project delivery; building roadmaps through to operational sustainability
• Strong facilitation skills (requirements sessions, design meetings, progress and status meetings)

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
