KBR is seeking a Sr Engineering Documentation Specialist to support NASA GSFC's SGSLR program, developing and updating technical manuals, drawings, and supporting documents. You will work with engineers to capture technical content, ensure accuracy, and standardize materials for delivery.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of engineering writing, ability to edit drawings and schematics, and proficiency in MS Office, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Occasional travel and U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• 8+ years of engineering related technical writing experience.
• Ability to read & edit engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible and adaptable to new information and programs.
• Experience developing procedural information for technical documentation.
• Experience with video training and photo capture/manipulation.
• Proficient in MS Office, Visio & Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain technical design, operation, maintenance, and drawing documents for existing and future systems.
• Update legacy documents and generate new content as needed.
• Use technical materials to write, revise, and finalize documents.
• Research and develop content for manuals, CDRLs, I-types, OEM documents, illustrations, and parts breakdowns.
• Prepare draft material for internal SME review and final customer review.
• Lead, coach, and mentor Junior Technical Writing staff.
• Be flexible with work hours to support surge requirements and critical missions.
• Travel may be required to support projects; passport for potential international travel.

Sr Engineering Documentation Specialist KBR is looking for an Engineering Documentation Specialist to support the design, development, testing, and deployment of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s (GSFC) next generation satellite laser ranging system, the Space Geodesy Satellite Laser Ranging (SGSLR) system.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside engineers to create technical design, operations, maintenance, & drawing documents for existing and future systems
• Create new and update any legacy documents already developed
• Use engineering documentation, operator and maintenance manuals, logistics data, and direction from engineers to create, write, revise, standardize, edit, review, and finalize documents
• Research, develop, and/or update content for printed manuals, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), I-types, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents, illustrations, and parts breakdown manuals
• Gather and research technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities, prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customer
• Lead, Coach and Mentor Junior Technical Writing Staff
• Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements
• Travel may be required to support projects; this may involve airline travel
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder and be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• 8 + years of engineering related technical writing experience
• In lieu of formal education, equivalent related experience is accepted. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
• Ability to read & edit engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics
• Proven ability to prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customer
• Must be flexible and have the ability to adapt to new information and programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Previous experience researching, reviewing and understanding technical information as well as developing procedural information for technical documentation
• Previous experience with video training and capturing images with a camera, photo manipulation
• Working knowledge and experience with space, engineering support, or IT related projects
• Proficient in Microsoft office suite, Visio & Adobe Acrobat Pro

Preferred Experience & Skills

• CAD products, including but not limited to AutoCad & SolidWorks
• Experience working with NASA technical documents related to technical manual development, delivery, and integrated logistics support

Basic Compensation

$102,700 - $168,000

The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
