Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Sr Engineering Documentation Specialist to support NASA GSFC’s Space Geodesy Satellite Laser Ranging system. You will create and update engineering documents, drawings, manuals, and related materials in collaboration with engineers to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The role includes mentoring junior writers, adapting to surge requirements, and potential travel. Requires a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder with CAC eligibility; passport may be required for international

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• 8+ years of engineering related technical writing experience
• In lieu of formal education, equivalent related experience is accepted
• Ability to read & edit engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics
• Proven ability to draft material for internal review by SMEs and final review by customer
• Flexible and able to adapt to new information and programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience researching and developing procedural information for technical documentation
• Experience with video training and image capture/manipulation
• Working knowledge of space, engineering support, or IT related projects
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Visio & Adobe Acrobat Pro

But we all share one goal: to improve the world responsibly and safely.**Sr Engineering Documentation Specialist**KBR is looking for an Engineering Documentation Specialist to support the design, development, testing, and deployment of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s (GSFC) next generation satellite laser ranging system, the Space Geodesy Satellite Laser Ranging (SGSLR) system.https://space-geodesy.nasa.gov/NSGN/SGSLR.htmlResponsibilities:* Work alongside engineers to create technical design, operations, maintenance, & drawing documents for existing and future systems* Create new and update any legacy documents already developed* Use engineering documentation, operator and maintenance manuals, logistics data, and direction from engineers to create, write, revise, standardize, edit, review, and finalize documents* Research, develop, and/or update content for printed manuals, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), I-types, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents, illustrations, and parts breakdown manuals* Gather and research technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities, prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customer* Lead, Coach and Mentor Junior Technical Writing Staff* Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements* Travel may be required to support projects; this may involve airline travel**\*\*\*Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder and be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)\*\*\*****Applicant selected must be able to obtain a passport for potential international travel.****Applicant must disclose any countries for which they are restricted from travel.****Required Education, Experience, & Skills:*** Bachelor’s degree in related field* 8 + years of engineering related technical writing experience* In lieu of formal education, equivalent related experience is accepted.
