Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Sr Engineering Documentation Specialist to support NASA GSFC's SGSLR program.

You will create and update engineering design, operations, maintenance, and drawing documents for current and future systems, and collaborate with engineers on content and formats. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of engineering technical writing experience, with strong editing, CAD-related familiarity (AutoCAD/SolidWorks), and proficiency in MS Office, Visio, and Adobe

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field.
8+ years of engineering related technical writing experience.
In lieu of formal education, equivalent related experience accepted.
Ability to read & edit engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
Proven ability to prepare draft material for internal review by SMEs and final review by customer.
Must be flexible and adapt to new information and programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience researching and developing procedural information for technical documentation.

Responsibilities

Work with engineers to create technical design, operations, maintenance, & drawing documents.
Create new and update legacy documents.
Use manuals, data, and guidance to write, edit, and finalize documents.
Develop content for manuals, CDRLs, I-types, and OEM docs, illustrations, and parts breakdowns.
Gather technical information for documentation and prepare drafts for internal review and customer final review.
Lead, coach, and mentor junior technical writing staff.
Be flexible with work hours for surge situations; travel may be required.
