What we offer:
Role Summary:
Based in Chattanooga, TN in the Anode Materials Division, the Process Engineer will report to the Senior Engineering Manager. The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, commissioning, and monitoring of elevated temperature processes to manufacture synthetic graphite.
Responsibilities include:
• Working closely with the development group to plan and execute scaling of processes from a pilot/development scale to full production capability
• Designing all core aspects/estimations of various processes (process maps, flows, temperatures, pressures, energy demands, etc.)
• Working with the project management team to help develop CapEx estimates, and to support the PM team with process specific information during construction of the various processes
• Supporting the other engineering disciplines during process commissioning
• Identifying, working with, and selecting vendors/contractors to deliver crucial process equipment and services
• Generation of supporting data for process design (P&IDs, pipe stress calcs, equipment section reviews, etc.)
• Absorbing all process information, and becoming the “go to” process expert for the division
• Mentors engineering associates from a technical as well as career standpoint
• Support of process cost/complexity reduction activities
• Analyzes complex/difficult process engineering problems to identify and eliminate root cause
• Mentor other Process Engineers on the team
You are:
• An experienced industry professional, with an ABET accredited degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
• An experienced process/project engineer with a minimum of 10 years process engineering experience, or a master’s degree and 5-7 years of experience, ideally in a complex industry, such as paper, petroleum, thermal and/or chemical manufacturing
• Demonstrated experience managing, operating, or implementing complex processes
• Demonstrated experience calculating process related engineering data (flows, pressures, energy consumption, thermal transfer, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to select and implement process equipment (furnaces, pump types, pipe material selections, etc.)
• Attentive to detail, able to digest large quantities of data, make connections between the data, and execute changes based on those connections
• Someone that is a self starter, and operates well in ambiguity and with minimal supervision
• Someone who can prioritize workstreams and competing demands
• Someone that works well under pressure, and can make, execute and justify complex and impactful decisions
• Comfortable communicating with a broad spectrum of associates, including operators, engineers, managers, contractors, and vendors
• A critical thinker, always looking to improve the equipment, process, and operation
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Passionate about creating and maintaining a great work culture
• Willing to go the extra mile to get the job done and to satisfy customers/stakeholders
Extra awesome if you also have:
• Experience leading small to medium scale ($5M+) capital projects
• High Temperature (Refractory) manufacturing experience (thermal focused)
• P.E., MBA, or other higher level career achievements
• Familiarity with Oracle
