Position Overview

DaVita IT Operations is seeking an experienced Disaster Recovery Engineer to enhance our IT resilience and operational readiness. This role involves ensuring that DaVita’s Business and Digital Continuity plans and Recovery Environments are current and tested regularly. The individual will work closely with IT and Business Leadership to design, implement, and maintain infrastructure solutions supporting fault domain isolation, multi-region reliability, cloud tiering, and elastic compute capabilities, including configuring Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), routing, network security, load balancing, and Cloud DNS. They will also diagnose, monitor, and troubleshoot network operations using Google Cloud Observability and Network Intelligence Center.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and test recovery environments across multiple OS, databases, and applications.
• Conduct Disaster Recovery / Digital Continuity discovery with application owners and business units.
• Document procedures for various disaster scenarios, including attacks, natural disasters, or human error.
• Collaborate with vendors to stay updated on security vulnerabilities and recovery trends.

Preferred Skill Sets/Experience

• Designing fault-tolerant solutions in on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-native environments.
• Experience with Disaster Recovery and Digital Continuity in regulated environments like Healthcare or Financial sectors.
• Knowledge of recovery operations for traditional, virtualized, and containerized workloads.
• Incident management expertise for large-scale recovery operations.
• Understanding of physical, virtual, and cloud-based IT infrastructure.
• Expertise in network management, automation, and orchestration across cloud platforms.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and backup solutions.
• Knowledge of fault domain strategies and elastic compute tools for auto-scaling and healing.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience: 7+ years in infrastructure engineering focusing on business continuity, disaster recovery, or cyber resiliency; experience with multi-region architectures and cloud storage/backups.

Soft Skills

• Analytical and problem-solving skills for risk mitigation.
• Effective communication and collaboration with technical and business teams.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects.

Certifications

• Google Professional Cloud Architect or similar cloud certifications.
