Job summary

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer for the Internal Logistics Automation & Innovation Team. The role leads engineering efforts to safely implement automation within the Assembly Internal Logistics Shops and reports to the Senior Manager.

Experience with CAD layouts, project management, and cross-functional collaboration is required; travel up to 25% domestically and internationally may be necessary, with potential weekend work to support production restarts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with CAD layouts.
  • Proficiency in analyzing 2D drawings and applying to shop layouts.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Ability to work weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Automation project installation experience.

Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s PC - Internal Logistics Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to plan and execute as the Engineering lead for the Automation & Innovation Team within the Assembly Internal Logistics Shops. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the Assembly Internal Logistics Shops department's objective to safely implement automation within the Assembly shops.

What you’ll be doing
  • Assist with budget planning for automation projects
  • Developing detailed planning timelines for 3-to-5-year automation projects
  • Completing Risk Assessments and Kanban process for new system implementations
  • Using a kaizen mindset to improve current delivery systems with the Assembly IL shops
  • Analyzing future opportunities for automation and innovation by conducting lead time studies for assets required
What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or applied engineering
  • Experience in manufacturing
  • Experience with mapping and layouts using CAD
  • Proficiency in analyzing contractor 2D drawings and implementing into shop floor layouts
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
  • Ability to work weekends, holiday shutdown work, and confirmation support to allow smooth restart of production as needed
  • Motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required
