Job summary

TEEMA in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Sr. Engineer, Facilities HVAC to design, review, and commission systems for a high-tech manufacturing environment.

You will collaborate with design consultants, review drawings and submittals, monitor construction, and manage documentation for HVAC systems while applying reliability engineering and root-cause analysis to improve performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of HVAC engineering experience (design and operations) in high-tech manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and exhaust systems and their controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with chilled water systems, cooling towers, and cleanroom standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in design, construction, commissioning, and start-up preferred.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design consultants to ensure HVAC system requirements are met.
  • Review engineering drawings, submittals, and monitor construction progress.
  • Support commissioning activities, including equipment preparation and operational testing.
  • Identify and resolve abnormalities during construction and start-up phases.
  • Manage documentation, manuals, and handover processes for HVAC systems.
  • Provide operational and maintenance support for RCUs, MUAs, exhaust systems, acid scrubbers, and RCTO solvent abatement systems.
  • Support office HVAC systems, including AHUs, VAV systems, and respond to temperature-related service calls.
  • Address OCAP conditions in cleanroom environments (temperature, humidity, particle levels, exhaust pressure).
  • Monitor system performance through trend analysis, inspections, and technical reporting.
  • Research and implement technology upgrades to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Perform system capacity planning, troubleshooting, and sustaining activities to meet production demands.
  • Partner with operations and maintenance teams to optimize system performance and energy consumption.
  • Conduct system evaluations and implement improvements through capital and expense projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for operational and maintenance procedures.
  • Apply reliability engineering principles, including FMEA and root cause analysis.
  • Review tool exhaust design during hook-up phase and perform engineering inspections.

What you must have:

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and awkward positions.

  • Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at elevation, and in confined spaces with PPE.
