Job summary

SimIS Inc. seeks a Senior Emerging Technology Analyst to assess how emerging technologies can be applied in the military environment and translated into practical examples, adoption pathways, and evidence-based recommendations.

This is a 100% onsite contract role with a focus on future capabilities and warfare development. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in a related field and brings extensive experience interpreting EDT information, acquisition of R&T data, and developing actionable

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information and communication technology or closely related scientific or engineering discipline.
  • 10 years of experience interpreting future S&T and EDT-related information for military applications.
  • 5-10 years of experience in acquisition, assembly, and interpretation of research & technology information using defence sources.
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience analyzing EDT documentation and identifying adoption pathways.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs) and catalog existing EDTs.
  • Assess EDT implications and adoption opportunities in support of Warfare Development Agenda.
  • Promote experimentation of EDT-based solutions in realistic environments.
  • Provide input to EDT activities within ACT S&T POW supporting foresight and capability development.
  • Influence EDTs addressing capability shortfalls and significant impacts on available capabilities.
  • Produce EDTs advice informing strategic foresight analyses and NATO defence planning.
  • Identify capability shortfalls benefiting from EDT adoption by analysing NDPP products and lessons learned.
  • Organize a knowledge base to enable information exchange between ACT, NATO, and national EDT stakeholders.

Job Description

SimIS is seeking contract support for the capture, development, architecture, analysis, and quality assurance of capability requirements necessary to adapt to future threats and shape long‑term military strategy. To support our customer, SimIS seeks an Senior Emerging Technology Analyst to provide comprehensive assessments of how emerging technologies can be applied within the military environment, including their relevance to current and future conflicts, and how they can be translated into practical examples, adoption pathways, and evidence‑based recommendations.

Experience Required
  • Master’s degree in computer science, information and communication technology or closely related scientific or engineering discipline.
  • 10 years of experience in interpreting future S&T and EDT‑related information in order to assess how such technologies may be applied within the military environment and adopted to address current and future operational challenges.
  • 5-10 years of experience in acquisition, assembly, and interpretation of research & technology information. Using information sources such as defence research laboratories, academic institutions, media, and defence ministries.
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience analyzing EDT documentation, identifying adoption pathways, and developing practical examples of how emerging technologies can be applied to current and future challenges.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to identification of new and cataloguing of existing Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs).
  • Contribute to the sustained assessment of EDT implications and adoption opportunities in support of the Warfare Development Agenda.
  • Promote increased experimentation of EDT‑based solutions in realistic environments.
  • Provide and coordinate input to programming of EDTs activities within ACT S&T POW in support of ACT’s foresight, NDPP, multinational solutions, capability development, training and education.
  • Influence and exploit EDTs that address identified capability shortfalls and those significantly impacting available capabilities.
  • Provide and coordinate input to the production and delivery of EDTs advice that informs the strategic foresight analysis efforts (SFA, FFAO), NATO defence planning (e.g., NDPP step 2) and subsequent capability and force development efforts, including capability requirements formulation, concept development and experimentation and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA).
  • Identify capability shortfalls that could benefit from adoption of EDTs by analysing the NDPP products, the operational Lessons Learned and in coordination with other ACT staff.
  • Organize and manage a knowledge base through sustained provision of the current status of EDT adoption for Warfare Development and to enable information exchange between ACT, NATO, and national EDT stakeholders.
