Job summary

Gilder Search Group is seeking a Senior Service Technician for a hands-on field role in commercial electronic security. You will independently troubleshoot, service, and program access control systems on customer sites, handling both hardware and software.

You’ll diagnose controllers, readers, locks, and network issues; perform upgrades; document work; and mentor junior technicians while coordinating with project teams. Travel across New Jersey may be required.

This can be an already tenured industry professional or someone on the cusp of moving into a Sr field role.

We are looking for a Senior Service Technician with strong technical experience in commercial electronic security, specifically access control systems.

This is a hands-on field role for a technician who can independently troubleshoot, service, program, and support access control systems. The right person understands both the hardware and software side of electronic security and can walk onto a customer site, diagnose the problem, and determine the right solution without needing constant supervision.

What You’ll Do

• Service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial access control systems
• Diagnose issues involving controllers, readers, power supplies, locks, doors, and system communications
• Troubleshoot access control software and network related issues
• Program and configure access control systems
• Perform system upgrades, modifications, and expansions
• Respond to service calls and work directly with customers to resolve technical issues
• Complete system testing and verify equipment is operating correctly
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, system documentation, and technical drawings
• Work with project managers, engineers, and other technicians when projects require additional support
• Document service work, system changes, and materials used
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced technicians when needed

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of commercial electronic security experience
• Strong access control troubleshooting and service experience
• Solid understanding of access control hardware, controllers, readers, locking hardware, and power supplies
• Experience programming and configuring access control systems
• Ability to troubleshoot both field hardware and software/system issues
• Comfortable working independently in the field
• Strong customer communication skills
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout New Jersey

Experience with platforms such as Lenel, Genetec, AMAG, Avigilon, Software House, or similar enterprise access control systems is highly valued.
