Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design and develop STS and PDU 3‑phase power products to meet standards and specs.
• Collaborate with product managers and project engineers to translate requirements into specifications.
• Plan site layouts, cable sizing, and environmental considerations for product integration.
• Specify circuit breakers and develop coordination schemes for reliability.
• Develop control system designs and schematics using ECAD tools.
• Create and execute test plans for thermal, EMI, metering, and controls performance.
• Document designs, test reports, and user manuals; provide feedback to documentation teams.

Job Summary

The Power Solutions & Distribution Product Line within the Power Management Business Unit is responsible for managing the global portfolio of power switching and distribution products to best serve the customers in the critical infrastructure market. Key activities include launching new products and services, managing the existing portfolio of products and services, and executing end production and service. The team operates in a global and cross-functional environment and has frequent interactions with customers, sales, engineering, marketing, and operations.

Power Solutions & Distribution Engineering in Delaware, Ohio, isseekinga Sr. ElectricalSystemsEngineertojoin ourteamandfocusonthedesign,development,andvalidationofStaticTransferSwitch(STS)andPowerDistributionUnit(PDU)3-phasepowerproducts.Theidealcandidatewillhaveknowledge ofelectricalsystemsincludingindustrystandards,controlsand monitoring systems, circuit breaker specifications, and system performance.Theengineerwillplayacriticalroleinensuringour productsmeetcustomerrequirementsandperformreliablyinthe field.

This position will be based onsite at our Delaware, OH facility.

Responsibilities:

• Designand developSTSand PDU3-phasepowerproducts,ensuringcompliancewithrelevantindustrystandards(UL, IEC, NEC, etc.) and customer specifications.
• Workcloselywithproductmanagersand projectengineerstounderstandtechnicalrequirementsand translatethemintodetailed engineering specifications.
• Specifysiteplanningdata,includingpowerdistributionlayouts,cable sizing, and environmental considerations to ensuresuccessful product integration.
• Specify circuit breakers and develop circuit breaker coordinationschemesto optimizeprotectionandreliabilityinpowerdistributionsystems.
• Developcontrolsystemdesigns, schematics, wiring diagrams using ECAD tools byintegratingVertiv’s digital and analog controls for monitoring and managing power distribution systems.
• Developandexecutetestplanstovalidatethethermal performance, electromagnetic interference (EMI), metering andcontrols accuracy/performance, and withstand fault performanceof the STS and PDU units.
• Preparedetailedtechnicaldocumentation,includingdesignspecifications, test reports, and schematics. Review and providefeedbackforusermanualsandothercustomersfacing documentation.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanicalengineers,firmwaredevelopers,and manufacturingteams,to ensurethe seamlessintegrationanddeploymentofproducts.Identify areas requiring process improvement or documentation.Workwithmanagementtoexecuteimprovements.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’sDegreeinElectricalEngineering, Master'sDegree preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
• 7+yearsofexperienceinproductdevelopmentandtesting.
• Abilityto analyzeand resolvecomplexproblemswithminimalguidance.
• Experiencewith3phasepowerand conversion/conditioning productspreferred butnotrequired.
• Understandingof industrystandards(UL,IEC,NEC)and theirapplicationinproductdesignanddevelopment
• ProficientinMicrosoftOutlook,Excel,PowerPoint,andWord.
• Strongcommunicationandorganizationalskillswithabilitytosummarize technical data/results quickly for non-technical audiences.
• Mostlysedentarydeskwork,mustbe ableto occasionallyworkinapowertestlabenvironment,includingliftingobjects,runningcables,orsteppingover/aroundobjects
