Job description

Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the electrical architecture and detailed design of complex vacuum process equipment from initial concept through manufacturing release. This role converts customer, product, and regulatory requirements into robust electrical specifications that balance performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability. The engineer designs and releases electrical schematics, assemblies, layouts, and documentation that integrate power supplies, motion systems, robotics, sensors, and control hardware, while providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless system integration and high‑quality product delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the electrical architecture and detailed design of complex vacuum process equipment from concept through manufacturing release.
  • Translate customer, product, and regulatory requirements into clear, balanced electrical specifications that address performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Design, develop, and release electrical schematics, assemblies, layouts, and associated documentation for integrated systems including power supplies, motion systems, robotics, sensors, and control hardware.
  • Resolve advanced electrical and system‑level issues by performing structured root cause analysis across development, manufacturing, and fielded systems.
  • Set technical direction during design reviews and ensure designs meet quality, reliability, and compliance expectations.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, raising overall design quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices.
  • Partner with Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Field Service teams to ensure seamless system integration, build, and installation.
  • Plan and execute electrical tests and design of experiments, and translate test data into actionable engineering recommendations.
  • Design and implement PLC control cabinet solutions for industrial machinery and capital equipment.
  • Address component and design obsolescence by identifying alternatives and updating designs to maintain long‑term product support.
  • Integrate power supplies, motion controllers, PLCs, and electrical interfaces into larger electro‑mechanical platforms.
  • Apply knowledge of vacuum equipment, robotics, and motion control systems to optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Ensure designs align with CE, UL, TUV, and RoHS requirements and support design‑for‑compliance practices.
  • Prepare clear documentation and presentations that distill complex technical concepts for diverse technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of electrical engineering processes, standards, and tools within the team.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of capital equipment design experience, or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of capital equipment design experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership of electrical design for complex electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Professional experience using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or a comparable electrical CAD platform for schematic and layout development.
  • Advanced expertise in analog and digital circuit design, including schematic development, testing, and formal release.
  • Hands‑on ability to debug electrical issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and component‑level analysis techniques.
  • Experience integrating power supplies, motion controllers, PLCs, and electrical interfaces into larger platforms.
  • Working knowledge of vacuum equipment, robotics, and motion control systems.
  • Familiarity with CE, UL, TUV, and RoHS requirements and design‑for‑compliance practices.
  • Experience with PLC control cabinet design for industrial machinery.
  • Experience in high‑voltage electrical design, primarily with digital systems.
  • Ability to resolve obsolescence issues for parts and designs in existing systems.
  • Strong skills in distilling complex technical concepts into clear documentation and presentations.
  • Comfortable working across disciplines and influencing decisions without direct authority.
  • Background in industrial machinery design and electrical engineering for equipment applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with microcontroller‑based designs in industrial or capital equipment environments.
  • Exposure to both analog and digital motion control systems in complex machinery.
  • Experience working on semiconductor process or similar advanced capital equipment platforms.
  • Ability to lead and participate in structured design reviews and cross‑functional technical discussions.
  • Strong collaboration skills for working closely with Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Field Service teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute electrical tests and design of experiments, and interpret data for design improvements.
  • Interest in contributing to innovative technologies such as laser annealing, ion beam deposition and etch, CVD, single wafer etch and clean, and lithography platforms.
Work Environment

The role operates in a standard professional office environment within an on‑site engineering and manufacturing setting. Most work takes place in the office area, focused on design, documentation, collaboration, and technical reviews, with access to labs and equipment for testing and debugging as needed. The organization fosters a collaborative, supportive culture with strong cross‑functional interaction between engineering, manufacturing, and other teams. The company develops advanced semiconductor process equipment, including technologies such as laser annealing, ion beam deposition and etch, CVD, single wafer etch and clean, and lithography, providing exposure to cutting‑edge tools and systems.
