CoolSys Energy Design - Consulting Engineers seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. You will develop complete, accurate, code-compliant electrical drawings and calculations for commercial building projects using AutoCAD and Revit.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Electrical Engineering, 10+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit, with PE or EIT preferred. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• PE or EIT (FE) is preferred but not required.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit required.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

To support our rapid growth, CoolSys Energy Design - Consulting Engineers (CED) is in search of an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team! Our ideal candidate will have strong electrical design experience and be responsible for developing complete, accurate, code-compliant electrical engineering drawings, and calculations, for a variety of commercial building projects using AutoCAD and Revit. CoolSys Energy Design (CED) is a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm specializing in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, energy management, fire protection, and building performance analysis and modeling. We tailor each solution to meet our clients’ unique needs while balancing functionality, sustainability, cost, and long-term performance. Our integrated designs help improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and deliver reliable, cost-effective facilities. CED provides comprehensive MEPR/FP engineering design services for a diverse range of projects nationwide, including major retail and commercial facilities. Our team specializes in supermarkets, big-box stores, refrigerated warehouses and distribution centers, Data Centers, national fitness chains, multifamily housing and high-rise buildings, schools and educational centers, medical and healthcare facilities, laboratories, and large custom residences. This broad project portfolio provides our engineers and designers with varied, challenging work across multiple building types and engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and create detailed designs for a variety of building projects.
• Create and maintain AutoCAD and Revit drawing packages.
• Incorporate selection, layout, sizing, and applicable system and equipment requirements with direction from the Senior Engineer; including but not limited to: o Lighting and power circuitry o Voltage drop calculations o Short circuit calculations
• Interior and exterior lighting layouts, fixture specifications, schedules, and calculations
• Low voltage lighting controls
• Electrical distribution design and single line preparation o Utility coordination
• Fire alarm system design layout & calculations
• Low voltage system layouts including data, communications, sound, and security o Emergency and life safety systems o Energy code analyses
• Participate in conceptual design for specific projects.
• Comply with project schedules, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Maintain responsible control over all design activities pertaining to the project, including engineering, quality control, and code compliance.
• Ensure work is executed accurately and in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Prepare design calculations and engineering documents that are constructible and meet both customer quality requirements and company standards.
• Coordinate with local building officials regarding code compliance.
• Assist with on-site visits and reporting, as required.
• Provide support for other department activities as required including plotting drawings, producing transmittals, and coordinating the shipment of deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Other engineering or construction disciplines are considered based on experience and skill set.
• PE or EIT (FE) is preferred but not required.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, as well as demonstrated high-quality technical writing skills.
• Team player with sound business ethics and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to achieve project goals and deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors to develop a full understanding of building energy systems and their operation.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
• This position will require minimal travel to project sites.
