Job summary

The Dock Experts in Florida is seeking a Senior Marine Construction Drafter to translate concept designs into precise CAD drawings for seawalls, docks, and marine structures.

You will coordinate with engineering, permitting, and field teams to ensure plans meet regulatory and client specs, while coaching junior drafters.

Required: a drafting degree, 2+ years with AutoCAD Civil 3D or Revit, and a portfolio of dock/coastal projects; fluent English.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or equivalent drafting software.
  • Experience with permitting documentation and marine or coastal projects.
  • Familiarity with South Florida marine conditions, materials (concrete, composite, PVC, aluminum), and coastal construction standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
  • Conversational in English.
  • Dock and/or concrete structural drafting portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed CAD drawings, plan sets, and 3D visualizations for docks, seawalls, boat lifts, and marine accessories.
  • Convert field measurements, sketch sheets, survey data, and engineer mark-ups into construction-ready drawings.
  • Maintain design libraries and standardized CAD templates to improve consistency across projects and branches.
  • Collaborate with permitting team on packages for local, state, and federal permitting (Broward, Miami-Dade, DEP, Army Corps, etc.).
  • Coordinate with internal engineers, permitting specialists, and external consultants to ensure compliance with local ordinances, coastal regulations, and design standards.
  • Assist in preparing structural details, material take-offs, and bill of materials for estimating and procurement.
  • Work closely with sales, operations, and field managers to align design intent with scope, constructability, and client expectations.
  • Participate in project kickoff and review meetings to confirm technical accuracy and feasibility.
  • Provide revisions or alternate solutions as needed during construction or permitting review.
  • Provide coaching/guidance to junior drafter(s)
  • Identify opportunities to improve drafting workflows, including use of digital modeling, cloud-based collaboration tools, or automated templates.
  • Incorporate sustainable and long-life material design practices in line with company environmental objectives.
  • Contribute to product standardization initiatives and R&D efforts for new marine systems or materials.

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Senior Drafter to join our team who is passionate about developing sustainable, innovative, and buildable marine infrastructure solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced CAD designer who combines technical accuracy, practical field understanding, and creative problem solving.

Position Summary

The Senior Marine Construction Drafter will transform conceptual project designs into precise technical drawings and permit-ready documentation for seawalls, docks, boat lifts, and other shoreline structures. This position coordinates with the engineering, permitting, and construction teams by ensuring that all plans meet regulatory, environmental, and client specifications. Additionally, a senior drafter will provide coaching to our junior drafter(s).

Key Responsibilities
Drafting & Design
