Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks a Senior Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to lead the end-to-end external financial reporting process. You will guide strategy, oversee complex disclosures, and partner with auditors and senior leadership.

The ideal candidate has a CPA, 10+ years of public company experience, deep U.S. GAAP knowledge, and a track record of process improvements in reporting controls.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including significant SEC reporting responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end preparation, review, and filing of all SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and related disclosures.
  • Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes, and other external reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, U.S. GAAP, and applicable financial reporting standards.
  • Manage reporting calendars, deadlines, and coordination with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and other advisors.
  • Review and enhance financial reporting processes, disclosures, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Own and oversee technical accounting research, analysis, and conclusions related to complex transactions and emerging accounting standards.
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos, position papers, and documentation supporting significant accounting judgments.
  • Advise senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on the accounting implications of acquisitions, divestitures, revenue recognition, leases, consolidations, equity transactions, and other complex matters, as applicable.

The Senior Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting will lead the company's end-to-end external financial reporting process and oversee all technical accounting matters.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in public accounting, extensive SEC reporting experience within an industry environment, and the technical expertise to navigate complex accounting matters. This role offers the opportunity to drive process improvements, strengthen reporting controls, and provide meaningful guidance on the company's evolving accounting and reporting requirements.

Day-to-Day
  • Own the end-to-end preparation, review, and filing of all SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and related disclosures.
  • Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes, and other external reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, U.S. GAAP, and applicable financial reporting standards.

Qualifications
  • Active CPA license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including significant SEC reporting responsibilities.
  • Strong industry experience in a public company or an organization with complex external reporting requirements.
  • Public accounting experience, preferably with a Big Four or national accounting firm, is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SEC reporting, U.S. GAAP, and technical accounting research.
  • Experience managing the preparation and review of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and related financial disclosures.
