ABOUT THE ROLE

This role requires a deep understanding of MVB’s business operations to architect technical data solutions that support ongoing strategic needs. Additionally, it involves direct management of the day-to-day activities related to the newly centralized data infrastructure of data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven-decision making through the design, governance, and oversight of data functions. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data infrastructure.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead development of analytic data products, including pilots and proof of concepts
  • Execute data strategies with an understanding of enterprise architecture, consumption patterns platforms and application infrastructure
  • Direct centralized data governance, platform operations, data sourcing and reporting/consumption processes across the company with support of the business data owners and stewards.
  • Modernize data design practices, focusing on optimizing design activities across multiple data platforms, including but not limited to Snowflake warehouses and integration with SaaS platforms
  • Advance knowledge management practices to enable the organization to leverage and scale deep subject matter expertise while increasing the speed and quality of data analysis
  • Manage the operationalizing and automating of all capabilities to ensure secure, supported, and scalable solutions
  • Work with team partners to ensure strong access controls, data encryption and protection along with data privacy compliance (e.g., CCPA)
  • Monitor system performances
  • Direct, train, coach, and mentors Data practitioners and foster a strong spirit of collaboration within the organization.
  • Implement team processes, governing documents, and procedures
  • Maintain relationships with partner teams to ensure needs are met and impacted areas plan work accordingly
  • Work with large datasets, ensuring data quality measures, accuracy, and performance this includes but is not limited to data validation and quality checks, data quality metrics and addressing issues
  • Direct data transformation, integration, and validation processes to support analytic and reporting needs, which can be used to make informed business decisions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, collaborating with the teams to identify root causes

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technology-related field, engineering, business, mathematics equivalent work or education related experience
  • Appropriate certifications in Data management (Certified Data Professional) are encouraged as well as other related certifications necessary for the position.
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering/enterprise level data governance, data management with at least 4 years in a manager role.
  • 4 years of experience with strategic data architecture, information systems and visualization techniques
  • Advanced knowledge in Data tools, techniques and manipulation including cloud platforms, programming languages and technology platforms (e.g., Python, Snowflake and AWS preferred)
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm in a dynamic corporate environment
  • High levels of personal integrity when conducting the professional affairs of the organization and dealing with sensitive and confidential data relating to risks, costs & prospects;
  • Understanding and commitment to company strategic goals and core values
  • Skilled at motivating individuals, teams, and the organization to preform at high levels and embrace change; communicates a compelling vision, inspire innovation solutions, builds high-performing teams, and understand motivational drivers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong attention to detail, with a keen focus on quality
