Responsibilities

Job Overview

The Sr. Director, Corporate Communications will lead the strategic direction, development, and execution of enterprise‑level communications for DePuy Synthes. This role is critical in shaping the company’s reputation, strengthening employee engagement, and supporting business priorities during a period of transformation and growth. The position serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and plays a pivotal role in ensuring consistent, transparent, and impactful communication with internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the global corporate communications strategy to support DePuy Synthes’ business objectives, brand positioning, and organizational transformation.
  • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to executive leadership, providing counsel on messaging, stakeholder engagement, and reputational risk.
  • Oversee internal communications to drive employee engagement, change adoption, and alignment with company priorities and values.
  • Lead external communications, including corporate announcements, media relations, executive communications, and thought leadership.

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Legal, HR, Regulatory, Marketing, and Business Leaders to ensure messaging accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (required).
  • Master’s degree or MBA (preferred).
Experience and Skills
  • Typically requires 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related fields, with significant leadership responsibility.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise‑level communication strategies in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated success advising senior and executive leadership.
  • Strong experience managing internal and external communications, including media relations and change communications.
  • Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams.
Preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting corporate transformations, mergers, separations, or large‑scale change initiatives.
  • Global communications experience and cross‑cultural collaboration.
  • Strong stakeholder management and crisis communications expertise.
  • Familiarity with digital and employee communication platforms.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and executive‑level communication skills.

  • Travel: Up to ~20%, domestic and occasional international.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$178,000.00 - $307,050.00

Additional Description For Pay Transparency

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
