Where You Fit

As a Senior Data Engineer at Terakeet, you will lead new data engineering projects by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to enhance our data platform with innovative capabilities supporting advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making. You will guide technical planning and project execution, mentor engineers, troubleshoot complex issues, and champion emerging technologies to improve our data infrastructure.

What We Need

• Be the technical lead on data engineering projects, working independently with minimal guidance.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, and data scientists to design scalable services and ensure high reliability and performance.
• Lead team discussions to define technical requirements for products.
• Conduct code reviews, develop documentation, and build robust test suites.
• Respond to and troubleshoot complex problems efficiently.
• Research and scope new technologies for our data stack.
• Mentor data engineers on Python and data best practices.

How We Evaluate & Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Proven leadership of data projects from conception to delivery.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, including Pytest/Unittest and Pandas.
• Strong SQL and OLAP modeling skills.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines, especially in dbt.
• Proficiency in Snowflake or Databricks.
• Experience with infrastructure tools like Prefect, Airflow, etc.
• Understanding of Software Engineering principles (SOLID, SRP).
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and document processes effectively.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of data modeling principles and business translation skills.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker.
• Advanced experience with Snowflake and relational/distributed databases.
• Knowledge of distributed systems like Hadoop, Spark, etc.
• Additional expertise in economics, mathematics, or statistics.

Additional Details

We hire within 60 miles of Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, Austin, TX, Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA, Phoenix, AZ, Minneapolis, MN, and Syracuse, NY to facilitate in-person collaboration.

The salary range is $150,000-$170,000, based on market data and geographic location.
