Where You Fit

As a Senior Data Engineer at Terakeet, you will lead new data engineering projects by collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance our data platform with innovative capabilities supporting analytics and decision-making. You will guide project planning, mentor engineers, troubleshoot complex issues, and champion emerging technologies to improve our data infrastructure.

What We Need

• Be the technical lead on data engineering projects, working independently with minimal guidance.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, and data scientists to design scalable services and ensure high performance.
• Lead discussions to define technical requirements.
• Conduct code reviews, develop documentation, and build test suites.
• Respond to and troubleshoot complex problems efficiently.
• Research and scope new technologies for our data stack.
• Mentor data engineers on Python and data best practices.

How We Evaluate: Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Proven leadership of data projects from conception to delivery.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Python (Pytest/Unittest, Pandas).
• Strong SQL and OLAP modeling skills.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines, especially with dbt.
• Proficiency in Snowflake or Databricks.
• Experience with infrastructure tools like Prefect, Airflow.
• Understanding of Software Engineering principles (SOLID, SRP).
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and document thoroughly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of data modeling, normalization, and dimensional modeling.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical plans.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.).
• Advanced experience with Snowflake and relational/distributed databases.
• Knowledge of distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark, etc.).
• Additional expertise in economics, mathematics, or statistics.

Location & Compensation

We hire remotely within 60 miles of Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA; Phoenix, AZ; Minneapolis, MN; and Syracuse, NY. Salary range: $150,000 - $170,000, based on market and location.
