Job description

AtRe:Build, our mission is to ensure the next generation of important products are made, at scale, in America. We are laying the foundation for a better future for our customers, employees, and communities by revitalizing America's manufacturing base and creating meaningful jobs across the country, including in historically deindustrialized regions.

We operate an advanced, end-to-end manufacturing platform that partners with industrial companies and innovators to take products from first concept to full-scale production in critical verticals including aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy and environment, and robotics and automation.

The way we operate is as important as the work we do. It's guided by TheRe:BuildWay, 16 principles that shape how we collaborate with each other, partner with our customers and vendors, and contribute to the communities where we operate. (link to The Re:Build Way principles)

Who we are looking for

The Data Engineer contributes to designing and implementing scalable technical solutions while supporting the broader engineering team. They actively participate in software architecture and system build discussions, writing clean, maintainable code and making use of AI-supported tools built to improve velocity and quality. With strong problem-solving skills, they debug complex issues, optimize system performance, and make sound trade-offs between speed and long-term maintainability. CCollaboration across diverse departments such as product, build, and QA is essential for shipping features end-to-end and driving product development. The Mid-Level Software Engineer adheres to coding standards, performs detailed code reviews, and champions guidelines around testing, CI/CD, and observability. They know the latest evolving technologies, frameworks, and engineering methods driven by machine intelligence, continuously sharpening their skills to contribute effectively to project and team goals.

What you get to do

  • Contribute to software design and architecture, ensuring scalability and reliability in line with team goals.
  • Develop and enhance new features, ensuring the codebase remains maintainable and efficient.
  • Identify and resolve bugs while optimizing code for performance and scalability.
  • Use development tools improved by artificial intelligence to accelerate delivery and support debugging, while maintaining code quality.
  • Write and maintain automated tests to support reliable, repeatable releases.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring alignment with coding standards and guidelines.
  • Contribute to piloting and adopting emerging AI-powered engineering tools and workflows as part of the team's broader AI initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including QA, Product Management, and DevOps, to ensure smooth product development and delivery.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and user documentation.
  • Adhere to guidelines with company software.
  • Work in accordance with The Re:Build Way.

What you bring to the Team

  • 3+ years' experience writing software in production environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of software technologies across multiple computer languages.
  • Experience with design patterns, algorithms, and other computer science fundamentals.
  • Experience with various software stacks, including Web, Windows Desktop, Cloud, and IoT.
  • Experience with API technologies, including REST and GraphQL.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure, including services like Lambda, S3, and API Gateway.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) in a professional setting.
  • Experience working in Agile methodology and thriving in fast-paced development environments.
  • Hands-on experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Familiarity with automated testing practices (unit, integration) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required
