Job Title: Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer

W2 Salary Range: $60-70/hr

Summary:

Akkodis is seeking a Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer for a CONTRACT to POTENTIAL HIRE position based in Dallas, TX (REMOTE). The desired candidate will have 5+ years of Cybersecurity experience including a deep experience in the Microsoft Security Suite. Join our mission to enhance and scale a modern, cloud-first security posture. In this role, you'll work directly with the CISO to secure a SaaS-centric, remote-first enterprise with minimal on-premise infrastructure. Our environment is built on Microsoft 365 with E5 licensing, Azure Sentinel for SIEM, and other cloud-native solutions to protect endpoints, identities, and collaboration platforms.

We're seeking someone who is passionate about automation, continuous improvement, and securing distributed systems.

Responsibilities:

Security Engineering & Operations

• Administer and optimize Microsoft 365 E5 security tools including Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, and Purview Information Protection.
• Enhance and operate Azure Sentinel: manage analytics rules, alert tuning, automation (via Logic Apps), and incident workflows.
• Manage email security platforms and integrate third-party tools to reinforce our cloud security stack.
• Collaborate with Operations to secure OT systems through applied controls, risk mitigation, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Implement and maintain identity-centric controls such as MFA, conditional access, just-in-time access, and least privilege.
• Monitor and respond to threats across Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and third-party SaaS platforms using native and integrated telemetry.
• Contribute to security assessments and ensure secure configurations during SaaS onboarding and lifecycle management.
• Partner with IT, engineering, and business stakeholders to integrate security into everyday operations and strategic initiatives.
• Deliver clear, actionable security guidance and maintain technical documentation to promote secure-by-default practices.

Threat Detection & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct proactive risk identification through configuration audits, security assessments, and threat hunting.
• Stay ahead of evolving threats and continuously refine detection, response, and prevention capabilities.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity with a strong focus on cloud-first environments.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft 365 E5 security features and the Microsoft Defender suite.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Sentinel, including KQL, rule optimization, and automation.
• Solid understanding of SaaS security and endpoint protection in distributed/remote environments.
• Experience with email security platforms (e.g., Abnormal Security, Proofpoint, or similar).
• Proactive, self-driven, and effective in remote collaboration.
• Preferred Certifications: MS-500, AZ-500, SC-200, or equivalent.
• Preferred - Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, KQL, Logic Apps, etc.).
• Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture, MITRE ATT&CK, and secure-by-design frameworks.
