What’s the role

Shell is looking for a Sr. Credit Analyst – Power & Gas to join its team in Houston, TX.

This role acts as a primary Americas contact within the Global T&S Credit Risk organization for credit risk management & support for Trading and Supply, supporting SENA (Shell Energy North America). Primary responsibility will be supporting the Americas Region focusing on credit risk management and trade credit approval, contract negotiations (NAESB, EEI, ISDA, PPA), portfolio credit management, customer interfacing and stakeholder management. This includes negotiating credit language with customers and execution of credit contractual terms. Direct interaction with various T&S functions where quick decisions must be executed while balancing risk/reward in decision making to optimize value and control/manage credit risk.

Accountabilities:

  • Act as a primary day-to-day interface within the Global T&S Credit Risk organization with commercial, financial, legal, contract admin and treasury stakeholders with respect to the execution of the deals/trades in carrying out credit risk strategies for assigned portfolio within the Americas Trading Portfolio
  • Ensure all commercial activities entered into by the above portfolio remain in compliance with the approved global Shell T&S Credit Policy
  • Offering world—class risk management techniques and insights to the business to enable the best possible risk / reward decision to be reached, including developing new strategies or techniques for optimization
  • Liaise with Trade Finance to ensure proper credit risk mitigation tools are properly negotiated, optimized, executed and managed
  • Work closely with the analytics team to run/analyze Potential Future Exposure (PFE), build out more analytical, reporting and stress testing capabilities within Credit Risk organization
  • Crucial and heavy interaction with Global Credit Underwriting Teams to ensure proper vetting of credit quality of counterparties (new and existing)
  • Lead through other credit and finance members to accomplish goals and overall credit strategies/credit valuations. Strong relationship with Peer Credit Managers to cross collaborate and ensure SEAm processes are consistent where appropriate. Develop and implement new ideas and best practices from collaboration and implement where needed
  • Role has heavy interaction with senior commercial and finance stakeholders where difficult decisions are carried out. Drive people development and best practice knowledge sharing throughout the Global Credit Risk organization. This position will have accountability managing a portion of the overall Shell Energy Americas T&S portfolio. Collaboration with other Trading Hubs (London, Singapore) occurs as needed
What you bring

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, or a related field of study
  • Must have at least 4 years of credit experience, specifically in trading credit mitigation, credit negotiations, contract negotiations, and/or credit support, preferably within a trading environment
What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $173,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
