The ideal candidate holds a J.D. from an accredited law school and active licenses in CA/WA/AZ/NV/OR, with 3+ years in insurance coverage, claims, or litigation. First-party property experience is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Advise claims professionals on complex coverage, indemnity, bad faith, policy interpretation, settlement, and claims handling matters.
• Evaluate high-exposure and jurisdictionally challenging claims, providing practical legal guidance and strategic recommendations.
• Manage and oversee coverage litigation, policyholder disputes, and declaratory judgment actions, including coordination with outside counsel and participation in mediations.
• Review policy limit demands, releases, indemnity agreements, and settlement strategies to ensure consistency and mitigate risk.
• Partner with claims leadership to develop best practices and maintain consistent legal positions across the organization.
• Build relationships with panel counsel and assist in evaluating and enhancing external counsel partnerships.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting claims operations and provide actionable guidance to stakeholders.

Senior Claims Coverage Counsel

An established and highly respected super regional property & casualty insurer is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Claims Legal team. This is a strategic, high-visibility role where you will serve as a trusted advisor to claims leadership, providing guidance on complex coverage disputes, high-exposure claims, litigation strategy, and risk management matters across multiple jurisdictions.

This position offers the opportunity to influence claim outcomes, shape coverage positions, collaborate with senior claims professionals, and partner with leading outside counsel on some of the organization's most significant exposures.

What We\'re Looking For

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in California, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, or Oregon
• 3+ years of experience handling insurance coverage, claims, or litigation matters within a carrier, law firm, or both.
• First-party property coverage experience is highly valued.
• Strong background advising on complex property & casualty claims and coverage issues.
• Experience working closely with claims professionals and outside counsel.
