Hilltop Holdings is looking for a Counterparty Risk Analyst to provide and oversee support to the Counterparty Risk Management platform. This includes trading and vendor entities, through financial and risk-based analyses of counterparties, identifying strengths and weaknesses, key risks, providing recommendations on limits, where applicable, and noting any deviations from policies as appropriate.
Identify, measure, monitor and report at various frequencies to management and governance entities on individual counterparties, the counterparty portfolio and its various risk components.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate counterparty reviews with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure counterparties are reviewed, approved, and monitored in accordance with best practices, corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and regulator expectations.
- Prepare or oversee preparation of written analyses which include:
- Counterparty product and limit recommendations
- Economic and market conditions as they relate to the industry, specific trading segments, and related market risk impacts
- In-depth historical financial performance analysis
- In-depth analyses of a guarantor’s financial position, as applicable
- Identification of counterparty’s strengths and weaknesses, key risks and mitigants, and structural aspects of trading activity
- Drivers of financial performance for banks, broker dealers, asset managers and their related funds, and municipalities
- Collect and maintain industry data, including regulatory actions; research industry specific information from outside sources, industry publications, credit agencies, regulatory entities, as well as accessing information through the internet
- Presents counterparty product and limit recommendations for approval to management committees, in accordance with corporate policies.
- Prepare or oversee preparation of vendor financial reviews in accordance with corporate policies
- Provide oversight, guidance and training to junior risk analysts
- Participate in ad hoc meetings, special projects, and reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial or credit analysis.
- Working knowledge of banking, broker dealer, and mortgage products and operations.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products such as Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Experience in data analytics, report preparation, and data visualization using tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, ability to work effectively across the enterprise, accountability, and attention to detail.

About The Team
Hilltop Holdings’ Risk Advisory department provides independent and objective enterprise and operational risk management advisory services to assist management in the identification, measurement, and monitoring of threats to strategic and management objectives. We apply a systematic approach to develop risk metrics, execute risk assessments, and evaluate loss events across Hilltop and its operating companies—PlainsCapital Bank, PrimeLending, and HilltopSecurities. Risk Advisory is a function within the Corporate Risk department, which also includes other Risk functions such as Counterparty Risk, Quantitative Risk, and Loan Review.
