Job summary

The City of Fort Collins is seeking a Sr Coordinator, Recreation (Aquatics) to oversee multiple aquatics facilities including EPIC Indoor Pool and ice rink.

The role focuses on safety, in-service training, supervision, and scheduling lifeguards while ensuring facility cleanliness and superior customer service.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirements: High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field preferred.
  • One to two years related experience.
  • Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid within six months; valid driver''s license; Facility Operator Certification (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO); Lifeguard certifications or ability to obtain within first six months.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, schedule, instruct and supervise recreational activities, classes, and events.
  • Monitor and manage staff scheduling for the area.
  • Assist in publication of programs, services, and events.
  • Recruit, train and schedule volunteers for assigned program area.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of recreation area, facilities, marketing, instructors and services.
  • Prepare program budgets and track revenues; authorize expenditures.
  • Promote programs with the department''s Communications staff and help with publications.
  • Assist with facility scheduling and maintenance.
  • Provide customer service by answering questions and referrals.
  • Act as liaison to internal user groups and external partners.
  • Maintain collaborative planning with allied agencies.
  • Compile monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
  • Participate in department collaborative teams.
  • Transport program participants in City vehicles when required.

Job Summary

This position works out of three year-round facilities (EPIC, Mulberry Pool, Senior Center, and upcoming SE recreation center) and one seasonal facility (City Park Pool). This position shares and supports overall aquatics operations including safety and in-service training/supervision and scheduling of lifeguards; ensures facility and pool area cleanliness; exhibits and promotes an excellent internal and external customer service mindset; and coordinates with various user groups and contractors that utilize these facilities.

Hours may vary including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. This is an aquatics position that requires an experienced aquatics professional, with supervisory experience. Work days are Tuesday -Saturday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Coordinates, schedules, instructs and/or supervises recreational activities, classes, and events.
  • Coordinate, monitors, and manages staff scheduling as it pertains to specific area of coordination.
  • Assist in coordination of publication of programs, services, and special events.
  • Recruit, train and schedule volunteers that assist in assigned program area.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of recreation area, facilities, marketing, instructors, and services.
  • Prepares program budgets; tracks and monitors revenues; authorizes expenditures of department funds and the maintenance of department records.
  • Promotes recreation programs by personal presentations coordinated with the department’s Communication staff, assisting in the preparation of publications, brochures, news releases, flyers, etc.
  • Assists with facility scheduling and maintenance.
  • Provides customer service by answering questions, filing applications, providing information and referrals.
  • Acts as staff liaison to internal user groups and to external boards, partners, and networking groups.
  • Maintains collaborative planning and working relationships with allied public and voluntary agencies.
  • Compiles monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
  • Participates as a member of various department collaborative teams.
  • Transport program participants in City vehicles when required.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Preferred High School Diploma or GED and or functionally related licenses or certificates Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Recreation, Recreation Administration, Human Development, Physical Education, Education, or related field

Experience Requirements
  • One to two years related experience.
Certifications/Licenses/Specialized Training
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required within six (6) months of hire. Valid driver's license. Facility Operator Certification (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Water Safety Instructor. Lifeguard Certifications required or ability to obtain within first six months of employment.
