Who You Are:

Precision Systems is seeking to hire a Sr Construction Inspector with knowledge and experience of construction standards and practices. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience performing construction inspection within Virginia, including work for VDOT. The Sr Construction Inspector is expected to fulfill all responsibilities of a Construction Inspector, along with additional duties outlined below.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor contractor operations to ensure compliance with contract terms and specifications on VDOT-related projects.
• Coordinate and direct all phases of construction inspection, especially on projects with extensive traffic control, environmental sensitivities, or requiring significant coordination with property owners, utility companies, or government agencies.
• Coordinate and schedule construction phases with the prime contractor and agency personnel.
• Review and monitor contractors' plans of operation and advise on violations.
• Conduct field measurements of pay items and perform material testing.
• Maintain comprehensive project records, including daily diaries, material notebooks, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.
• Assist in developing work orders, investigations, and analysis of Notices of Intent.
• Evaluate and monitor progress schedules; perform work order analysis.
• Serve as Lead Inspector for a team of inspectors when necessary.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of highway construction inspection experience and meet all the requirements of the TS II-C / Construction Inspector certification. Additionally, the candidate should have comprehensive knowledge of:

• Roadway, structure, and bridge construction, maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation methods, materials, standards, and specifications.
• VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, Standards, Construction Manual, and Inspector Manual.
• Certifications related to concrete, pavement, drainage, asphalt, and other inspection areas.
• State and federal environmental, safety, and EEO regulations.

The candidate should be proficient in:

• Providing technical supervision and leadership to inspectors.
• Preparing for and conducting project meetings.
• Applying mathematical formulas and field management principles for adjustments.
• Communicating effectively with agency and contractor personnel, and the public.

The candidate must maintain the same certifications as a Construction Inspector, with specific requirements varying by task as determined by the Department.

Note: The rate for this position is subject to the Maximum Hourly Rate listed in the current CEI Classification Hourly Rate Pay Limitations Memorandum.
