Job summary

Markel Corporation in the United States seeks a Senior Compliance Coordinator to oversee advanced administrative and accounting tasks within the compliance department. The role combines leadership of Coordinators with hands-on processing of complex invoices and liaising with DOIs and vendors.

  • Builds relationships with DOIs, Workers’ Compensation Bureaus, and program vendors.
  • Communicate effectively to resolve business challenges.
  • Support Analysts' work as needed.
  • Assign tasks to Coordinators and monitor progress.
  • Prepare and deliver standard management reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of products and markets served.
  • Proofread documents for tone and clarity.
  • Participate in Hunt Group duties to assist policyholders and customers.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Provides advanced administrative support to management as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Compliance Coordinator is responsible for advanced-level administrative and accounting functions within the compliance department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs all duties of a Coordinator with full proficiency.
  • Serves as a leader and point of guidance for Coordinators.
  • Manage advanced insurance compliance and related administrative activities.
  • Reconcile, review, allocate, and process complex invoices from third-party vendors, Workers’ Compensation Bureaus and Departments of Insurance (DOIs).
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with DOIs, Workers’ Compensation Bureaus, Program Managers, and company vendors.
  • Leverages established internal and external relationships to resolve business challenges through effective communication.
  • Understands transactional processes and identify issues or circumstances requiring further research or escalation.
  • Supports Analysts’ work but not expected to independently perform Analyst duties without significant preparation (e.g., extended planned leave coverage).
  • Conducts first-level research (e.g., using online resources) to gather potential answers for Analyst review, without responsibility for nuanced interpretation or final decisions.
  • Assign tasks to Coordinators, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion.
  • Prepares and delivers standard management reports (e.g., activity reports).
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of products and markets served by SNC’s Program Managers.
  • Proofreads documents to ensure appropriate tone and clarity.
  • Participate in Hunt Group phone duties to assist policyholders and external customers.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

  • Provides advanced administrative support to management as needed.
WORK CONDITIONS

Standard office environment

  • May be required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Overnight travel may be necessary on occasion.
