Trustpoint.One in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to serve as a strategic legal partner to Marketing, Technology, Digital, Supply Chain, and Corporate teams. You will lead negotiations on complex commercial agreements and advise on data privacy, AI governance, and IP matters.

The role requires 7+ years of legal experience, strong retail‑oriented contracts, and active Bar membership. Remote/hybrid work is available with Charlotte residency preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of legal experience, retail exposure preferred.
• Strong commercial contracts experience in retail: SaaS, IT services, vendor MSAs.
• Extensive data privacy knowledge: CCPA, DPAs, AI governance.
• IP matters, corporate governance, and compliance.
• JD from accredited law school and active Bar.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiation and drafting of complex commercial agreements.
• Advise on data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance.
• Support eCommerce, omnichannel initiatives.
• Counsel on legal risk, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
• Manage outside counsel and litigation/regulatory matters as needed.

Senior Commercial Counsel | Charlotte, NC (Hybrid - 1 Day Remote)

A leading retail organization is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to serve as a strategic legal partner to Marketing, Technology, Digital, Supply Chain, and Corporate teams. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney with a strong background in commercial contracts, data privacy, intellectual property, and corporate governance within a retail environment.

Key Qualifications:

• 7+ years of legal experience (combination of in-house and law firm experience preferred)
• MUST HAVE strong commercial contracts experience in a retail environment, including:
  • Digital marketing agreements
  • SaaS and software licensing agreements
  • IT and technology services agreements
  • Vendor and master service agreements
  • Marketing, influencer, sponsorship, and promotional contracts
• Extensive experience with:
  • Data privacy and consumer protection laws
  • CCPA and other state privacy regulations
  • Data processing agreements (DPAs)
  • AI and technology governance
  • Intellectual property matters
  • Corporate governance and compliance

JD from an accredited law school and active Bar membership required

Candidates must currently reside in the Charlotte, NC area or be willing to relocate to Charlotte.

Responsibilities:

• Lead negotiation and drafting of complex commercial agreements
• Provide legal support for digital marketing, technology, eCommerce, and omnichannel initiatives
• Advise on data privacy, cybersecurity, AI governance, and customer data practices
• Counsel business leaders on legal risk, compliance, and strategic initiatives
• Support intellectual property, consumer protection, and marketing compliance matters
• Partner with internal stakeholders to develop scalable legal processes and best practices
• Manage outside counsel and support litigation and regulatory matters as needed

This role requires a business-minded attorney with exceptional communication skills, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced retail environment.
