A Day in the Role
- Responsible for timely resolution of patient accounts.
- Research account balances and follow up with collection calls to insurers and parents.
- Review claims with no response, denied, or underpaid claims, and resolve denials or file appeals as necessary.
- Ensure all collection activities are fully documented in the patient accounting system and identify trends for timely resolution.
- Work independently or as part of a project team, possibly handling hospital, professional, or home care claims.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers according to guidelines using current technology.
- Resolve patient insurance balances by analyzing denials and using payer requirements to obtain payment.
- Utilize payer portals, remits, and calls to understand and resolve denials.
- Perform adjustments as needed and escalate trends to management.
- Review data sets including CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS codes, and other payer-related information.
- Prioritize work based on department needs and leadership guidance.
- Route accounts to relevant departments to address denials and advise on contractual issues.
Necessary Skills and Strengths
- AR Follow-Up, AR Specialist, Follow-Up Representative, Insurance Authorizations, ICD-10, CPT Codes, Medical Insurance & Billing Knowledge, Denials Follow-Up
Core Experience
- 2-5 years AR Follow-Up experience
- EPIC system proficiency
- Experience working with denials and claims appeals
- Home Health Claims experience is a big plus
Pay and Benefits
The pay range is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility for benefits depends on job classification and employment duration, and may include:
