Description:

• We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Database Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The Cloud Database Administrator will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud-based database systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud technologies, database management, and a strong ability to optimize database performance and security in a cloud environment.
• The incumbent will lead and contribute to business projects, infrastructure strategy and design, capacity management, and support activities.

Essential Job Results:

• Design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other IT teams to define database requirements and architecture for various projects.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud databases, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and ensuring optimal query performance.
• Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patches while minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.
• Implement and maintain database security best practices, including user access control, data encryption, and vulnerability assessments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
• Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Ensure data backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies are in place and regularly tested.
• Stay up to date with emerging cloud and database technologies, evaluating their potential benefits and making recommendations for their adoption.
• Provide technical support and guidance to development teams for database-related matters.

Skills/Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on cloud-based environments.
• Strong expertise with AWS and proficiency in cloud database services.
• Solid knowledge of relational database management systems (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DocumentDB).
• Experience with database design, performance tuning, and query optimization.
• Familiarity with database security best practices and data privacy regulations.
• Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Terraform, Chef) for automation and monitoring.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Relevant certifications in cloud technologies and database management (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty) is a plus.
• Must possess (5+) years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience, with RDS being a requirement. Must possess AWS Cloud Certification or equivalent hands-on experience in managing and monitoring production workloads in AWS.

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range: $65 - $69 per hour on W2
Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
