Position: Senior Cloud Data Engineer
As a Sr Cloud Data Engineer, you will develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, systems, and platforms in Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake. You will collaborate with business data analysts, data architects, data scientists, project managers, and G.E.H.A's business stakeholders to build solutions that ensure seamless data flow and enable actionable insights. This role supports data development and maintenance efforts in Data & Analytics activities, aligning with the Enterprise Data strategy, policies, and organizational goals. You will work in a cloud-native environment to design and optimize data solutions that improve the performance, scalability, and efficiency of our data and analytics offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop complex ETL/ELT pipelines ensuring efficient data flow from multiple sources to Snowflake for processing, storing, analyzing, and consuming large datasets.
- Design and implement data solutions in Snowflake to support business intelligence, analytics, and data science initiatives.
- Oversee Snowflake architecture, including data models, schema design, partitioning, clustering, and query optimization for high performance and low cost.
- Work independently on assigned tasks and lead other data engineers through deployment to production, following change management processes.
- Participate in architectural discussions, understand data strategy, and provide recommendations for data domain decisions.
- Perform regular code reviews and ensure best practices are followed.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and data engineering trends; drive innovation in data architecture and pipelines.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and implement solutions supporting business goals.
- Implement data security, governance, and compliance best practices.
- Automate and monitor data workflows to ensure data integrity and operational reliability.
- Troubleshoot data pipeline issues, ensuring timely resolution of data and platform performance problems.
- Follow change management procedures and participate in agile processes including scrum, backlog grooming, and planning.
- Lead backlog grooming, refinement, and planning meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of relevant experience, preferably within healthcare or data analytics industries.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, Data Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in designing and implementing data architectures on Snowflake.
- Proven experience as a Cloud Data Engineer, particularly with Snowflake.
- Advanced knowledge of Snowflake, including schema design, performance tuning, and cost optimization.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with complex queries, stored procedures, and managing large datasets; experience with Python, R, Apache Spark is a plus.
- Strong understanding of Data Warehouse concepts, Data Modeling, database management systems (SQL and NoSQL), and ETL/ELT frameworks.
- Experience with DevOps practices, repositories, Snowflake, and CI/CD pipelines for data deployment.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively in teams.
- Good understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis for data issues.
- Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and understanding business processes.
- Willingness to learn healthcare and analytics industries if not already familiar.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Snowflake fundamentals certification or similar cloud platform certification.
