Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a professional to lead the planning, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of integrated clinical information systems that support patient care and hospital operations.

You will coordinate clinical workflows, provide training, and ensure system functionality across clinical applications, with emphasis on analysis, testing, and successful deployments in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Requires college degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, Nursing, Pharmacy, or Allied Health and 4 years IT experience, preferably in Clinical Operations.
• Knowledge of systems implementation, including analysis, specification design, and implementation.
• Understanding of clinical workflows and integration of information systems to support patient care and operations.

Job Description

Serves as the primary contributor and consultant for patient care services in the planning, design, development, implementation, functionality, and evaluation of integrated clinical information systems that support and enhance clinical practice, administrative and management needs, and patient outcomes.

Acts as the principal resource with clinical knowledge and computer expertise to coordinate and provide support for all new and current applications and software upgrades applicable to clinical systems. Responsible for the analysis, design, testing, and implementation of complex clinical information systems and solutions. Prepares detailed specifications and conducts assessments of the clinical environment to identify implications for system implementations.

Acts as a facilitator for changes within the clinical environment related to system implementations. Advises end-user training on clinical applications to ensure understanding of system functionality and supports the development and design of training programs.

Minimum Qualifications

A college degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, Nursing, Pharmacy, or Allied Health and 4 years of experience in Information Technology, preferably within Clinical Operations, and/or a clinical area, with a preference for candidates who possess a combination of both clinical and information technology experience. Knowledge of systems implementation, including analysis, specification design, and implementation. Demonstrated understanding of clinical workflows, technology solutions, and the integration of information systems to support operational and patient care objectives.
