What You’ll Be Doing

The Sr. Civil Technician is responsible for performing complex computer-aided design assignments. This role is responsible for drawing sketches, layouts and drawings independently. They will complete manipulation of design tools in CAD software for construction documents. The Sr. Civil Technician will also prepare quantity takeoffs of design elements and will be responsible for conducting property and existing utility research on projects. In addition, this role is responsible for the QA/QC CAD standards and provides mentorship to the Technician staff.

Once Selected To Join Our Team, You Will

• Perform complex computer aided design assignments through ARAMIS, Microstation ORD, and Civil 3D functionality and drafting techniques independently
• Draw sketches, layouts, and drawings independently
• Manages QA/QC CAD standards
• Completes manipulation of design tools in CAD software for creating and labelling construction documents independently
• Prepare quantity takeoffs of design elements
• Conduct property and existing utility research as needed on specific projects
• May manage CAD files for large, complex projects
• Mentor Technician staff
• Other duties as assigned
  
  

Knowledge

• Advanced understanding of drafting concepts and CAD fundamentals
• Keep up with industry CAD standards
• Solid knowledge and proficiency with ARAMIS, Microstation ORD, and Civil 3D
• Advanced knowledge of civil design, permitting, and construction concepts
• Advanced ability to produce construction drawings and exhibits with limited supervision provided the design elements by other team members.
• Advanced knowledge of pipe networks and surfaces
• Working knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam

Experience

• 5+ years of prior telecommunications design/drafting experience
• 0-2 years civil design exposure
  
  

Education

• Associate’s Degree or Technical School Graduate in Computer Aided Drafting & Design or equivalent work experience.
  
  

Working Conditions

• Air-conditioned office environment
• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
• Exposure to extreme weather and various terrain during occasional site visits
  
  

Physical Demands

• Sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach
• Lifting of up to 30 lbs. primarily office supplies
• Simple grasping and fine manipulation
