Apex Companies, LLC is seeking a Civil Engineer to support a diverse land development portfolio in Somerset or Greensburg, PA. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• EIT required, PE preferred or on track.
• 5+ years of experience with site design and land development.
• Experience with PADEP permitting processes and coordination preferred.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and MS Office; HydroCAD or similar software preferred; HEC-RAS a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed civil engineering design for land development projects (site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and utility design).
• Support site feasibility studies, due diligence, and zoning/code reviews.
• Prepare and review design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, calculations, and reports.
• Assist with permitting and approvals, coordinating with agencies and responding to comments.
• Collaborate with project managers, planners, and survey teams to move projects from concept to construction.
• Track progress, manage deliverables, and ensure schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Participate in client, contractor, and municipal meetings, documenting decisions and actions.
• Provide support during construction (submittals, RFIs, site visits).
• Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, and client presentations.
• Maintain project documentation and progress in internal systems.
• Pursue professional development to advance in land development engineering.

We're seeking a Civil Engineer to be based in Somerset or Greensburg, PA. In this role, you will gain hands‑on experience supporting a diverse portfolio of land development projects, including private sector and municipal development. You'll collaborate with experienced professionals who are committed to mentorship and fostering long‑term career growth within a highly collaborative team environment.

Your Responsibilities as a Civil Engineer:

• Perform detailed civil engineering design for land development projects, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and utility design
• Support site feasibility studies, due diligence, and zoning/code compliance reviews for a variety of development projects
• Prepare and review design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, calculations, and engineering reports
• Assist with permitting and approvals, coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies and responding to agency comments
• Collaborate with project managers, planners, and survey teams to ensure projects move efficiently from concept through construction
• Track project progress, manage deliverables, and ensure adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards
• Participate in client, contractor, and municipal meetings, documenting key decisions and follow-up actions
• Provide support during construction, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits as needed
• Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, and client presentations
• Maintain accurate project documentation, budgets, and progress tracking within internal systems
• Actively pursue professional development opportunities, with a focus on advancing within land development engineering

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
• EIT required, PE preferred or on track
• 5+ years of experience, with exposure to site design and land development projects
• Experience with PADEP permitting processes and coordination is preferred.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and MS Office; HydroCAD or similar stormwater modeling software preferred; HEC-RAS experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of grading, drainage, and local permitting processes
• Excellent technical communication skills and attention to detail
• Commitment to safety and a strong understanding of safe work practices
