Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of land development, geotechnical, residual waste or related civil projects.
  • Experience with PADEP permitting processes preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; HydroCAD and HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS preferred.
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Sponsorship not available now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Perform civil design including site layout, grading, stormwater, erosion control, and utility design.
  • Support geotechnical investigations and data interpretation.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports and design considerations for foundations and earthwork.
  • Assist with permitting for municipal and residual waste facilities.
  • Prepare and review plans, specifications, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Support scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of tasks and resources.
  • Track progress and ensure timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, regulators, and contractors.
  • Contribute to proposal development and client presentations.
  • Maintain project documentation and progress reporting.

We are seeking a Project Civil Engineer to join our team in Somerset or Greensburg, PA. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience supporting a diverse portfolio of land development, geotechnical, and municipal/residual waste projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative, team-oriented environment that emphasizes mentorship, technical development, and long‑term career growth.

Your Responsibilities as a Project Civil Engineer:

  • Perform both conceptual and detailed civil engineering design, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and utility design.
  • Support geotechnical investigations, including field coordination, soil/rock data review, and interpretation of subsurface conditions.
  • Assist in the preparation of geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design considerations for foundations, slopes and earthwork.
  • Support design and permitting efforts for municipal & residual waste facilities, including landfills, transfer stations, and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, technical specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and reports.
  • Support project execution by assisting with scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of project tasks and resources.
  • Track project progress and manage deliverables to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Assist with permitting and approvals, coordinating with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to advance projects from design through construction.
  • Participate in client, contractor, and regulatory meetings; document key decisions and follow up on action items.
  • Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, and client presentations.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including budgets, schedules, and progress reporting within internal systems.
  • Actively pursue professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in land development, geotechnical, residual waste or related civil engineering projects.
  • Experience with PADEP permitting processes and coordination is preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with HydroCAD and HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS preferred.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
