Join Our Team as a Proposal Specialist II
Pinpoint Precision Engineering is on the lookout for a detail-oriented and creative Proposal Specialist II to become part of our rapidly expanding team in Chicago. In this role, you will work closely with leadership and project managers to oversee project pursuits from the initial planning phases right through to the final client interviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Proposal Management: Partner with engineers and project managers to evaluate and assist senior staff on regional or national infrastructure bids.
- Strategic Planning: Participate in "go/no-go" meetings to help analyze if a project is worth pursuing based on the company's rules and goals.
- Business Development & Outreach: Partner with leadership to identify prospective project opportunities, represent the firm at industry networking events, client functions, and conferences, engage in community outreach, and assist with presentation preparation.
- Database Maintenance: Keeping tracking systems up to date with award submissions, proposal win/loss metrics, deadlines, tracking opportunities, maintaining CRM records, researching target clients and markets.
- Interview Support: Help prepare the engineering team for live client presentations and interviews following a successful proposal submission.
- Content & Collateral Development: Draft, refine, and update marketing assets—including project profiles, photography, staff resumes, case studies, and technical capability summaries—while authoring thought leadership and internal pursuit materials.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in an Architecture, Engineering, or Construction firm is strongly preferred. Proven success supporting public-sector proposals and working with clients such as state, municipal, and county agencies - as well as utilities or other infrastructure organizations.
- Software Skills: High proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign for document layouts) and CRM or proposal management tools such as BQE Core, Deltek Vantagepoint, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Proposal Writing & Copywriting: Demonstrated talent for partnering with technical subject matter experts to translate complex engineering concepts into persuasive, client-focused messaging, paired with exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills to consistently deliver client ready work.
