GENERAL PURPOSE

The Channel Sales Manager will actively pursue new and existing business opportunities within assigned account(s). They will lead, manage, and follow the sales cycle from beginning to the end state. Their responsibilities also include managing Independent Enterprise Representative sales team. They will work closely with fellow Sales peers, Product Management and other Legrand team members to deliver on assigned objectives while creating value for the customer.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Actively pursue new business opportunities and grow business.
  • Build mindshare and promote desired behavior with Independent Sales Representatives
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer information in Salesforce.com
  • Effectively present information to executive management team
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key players/decision makers
  • Effectively communicate between internal departments to manage projects (i.e. Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Customer Care)
  • Work independently and at times in a team sales environment
  • Evangelize new products during customer calls, trade shows and other sales forums
  • Support product management team in launching new products into the Channel
  • Meet with customers and internal business teams to understand key business opportunities
  • Track competitive products and prepare appropriate competitive strategies to capture additional market share
  • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer and database skills. Must be able to pull and miniplate sales data. Be proficient in generating reports from PowerBi, Salesforce.com, and other data sources.
  • Expertise in using the internet and Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams (or related e-mail system)
  • Proven ability to understand and practices value-added selling
  • Proven Sales Success
  • Ability to operate/work in a high growth & entrepreneurial environment
  • Motivated, self-starter who desires success
  • Demonstrated ability to be customer focused and responsive to questions and needs
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and leverage additional resources as needed
  • Proven ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
  • Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several tasks at one time
  • Excellent project management and planning skills, while providing high attention to details
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, engineering or related degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales; or combination of relevant education and experience

Special Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to provide for a safe home office working environment
  • Must be available for extended, varied work hours based on business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Channel Sales is preferred.
  • Previous work experience in managing Independent Sales Representatives
  • MBA or equivalent
  • Growth mindset

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • General (home) office and field sales environment
  • Requires frequent ground and plane travel to customer facilities, tradeshows, and other industry events. Expect travel demands to exceed 50%
