What you'll do...
As a Sr Category Manager, you will manage the third-party supplier contract process for a defined set of supplier categories with the objective of maximizing each third-party spend - i.e. lowest cost consistent with the type and quality of goods and services needed for H&R Block. Your responsibilities will include all existing and new contracts in assigned categories and include all aspects of the contract cycle - identification and selection of suppliers and contract negotiation. Where applicable, you will also assist with the purchasing/procurement process under existing contracts.
Day to day, you'll...
- Lead the third-party supplier contract process for suppliers in defined categories, including working with business units to understand business needs and requirements, working with business unit to identify qualified suppliers, managing supplier selection process (RFP or other), and taking lead on negotiation of contract with preferred supplier
- Organize and participate in business unit review sessions with business unit leaders to understand and anticipate expiration of existing contracts and understand need and priority for supplier services, existing and new
- Proactively begin selection/negotiation process for existing contracts with enough lead time to secure advantageous terms for H&R Block
- Participate in design and improvement of processes for supplier selection and contract negotiation, including initial compliance and legal agreements, supplier selection, and contract negotiation
- Lead and provide guidance to other team members involved in supplier selection, contract negotiation, and purchasing/procurement under existing contracts
- Where applicable, oversee and manage current program and processes for purchasing/procurement under existing supplier contracts including procedures, forms, and processes for ordering, fulfilling, exceptions, and problems resolution
- Develop and manage annual budget for assigned goods and services; develop and maintain all necessary management reports and process and reconcile all invoices, inventory, etc.
- Build strong partnerships with business unit leaders and other members of the ESS team
- Participate in design and improvement of key metrics and management reports for the team
- Build and maintain deep subject matter expertise in assigned supplier categories, including business needs and requirements, profile and capabilities of available supplier, price points, and contract negotiation strategies

What you'll bring to the team...
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
Work Experience:
- Intermediate (practical application) Demonstrated ability to navigate Windows-based software applications
- Intermediate (practical application) Demonstrated decision making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Intermediate (practical application) Effective time management and organization skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
- 5 years minimum related work experience
- Intermediate (practical application) Oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Intermediate (practical application) Strong project management and process improvement skills

Work Experience:
- Advanced (applied theory) Professional certification in supply and procurement

Pay Range Information
The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.
Pay Range
$77,000.00 - $116,000.00/Yr.
