Job summary

Hexcel in Amesbury, MA is seeking a Senior Buyer to lead supplier surveillance, negotiations, and procurement for major production commodities. You will maintain PO files, monitor inventory, and ensure compliance with AS9100/ITAR while leveraging MRP/ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree required.
  • Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office products.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems; MS AX preferred.
  • Demonstrated communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts using basic algebra and geometry.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive team and supplier relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate with Operations and other support functions.
  • US citizen and ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct supplier surveillance and audits.
  • Lead and conduct source surveys, rate readiness reviews, procurement review boards, offsite program reviews and off-site resolution of supplier problems; provide inputs into make/buy determinations, source selections and supplier qualifications.
  • Troubleshoot supplier problems and issue resolution.
  • Maintain thorough and organized Purchase Order files.
  • Procure major and critical production commodities and materials; lead negotiations of terms and pricing; develop RFQs.
  • Establish long-term supply subcontracts to support the organization.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production planning.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiently utilize the MRP system for procurement processes.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers; collaborate with cross-functional teams.

As a Senior Buyer in our Amesbury, MA location, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:



  • Conduct supplier surveillance and audits.

  • Proficiently utilize the MRP system for efficient procurement processes.

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders and suppliers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supply chain issues.


Requirements:


  • BS/BA Degree required.

  • Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Operating instructions may be provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Computer proficiency is required; must have above-average proficiency in MS Excel, as well as general proficiency in other MS Office Products

  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems is required. Experience with Microsoft AX is preferred

  • Demonstrated communication (oral and written), organization, and interpersonal skills

  • Experience calculating figures and amounts using basic algebra and geometry such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive team and supplier relationships.

  • Facilitate a collaborative relationship with Operations and other support functions.

  • Must be US citizen and must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance


Preferred


  • Knowledge of ITAR, FAR, DFARS, and DPAS provisions and clauses is preferred

  • Experience working in an ISO 9001/AS 9100 environments preferred

  • APICS Certification and Lean Manufacturing knowledge preferred


Complete salary range for this role: $68,665 - $117,700
