Job description

Sr Business Intelligence Engineer, Amazon Business Marketing Analytics

At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To expand that mission, we’re now helping businesses and other institutional buyers purchase products through Amazon Business. After a successful US launch in 2015 and reaching a $10 billion annualized run rate in 2018, we are expanding Amazon Business globally. In this role, you will help define the future of our business operations and improve our effectiveness in the global B2B e-procurement space.

The Amazon Business Marketing Analytics team seeks a Business Intelligence Engineer to support our B2B Marketing initiatives. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in developing reporting infrastructures and flexible front-end tools. You will conduct deep-dive analyses of business growth opportunities, formulate conclusions, and present recommendations to senior leadership. Collaboration with US and international Amazon Business teams will be key, as you develop innovative products for B2B customers and work across cross-functional teams. Creativity will be essential when data availability is limited, requiring innovative approaches to drive results. You will also produce written insights and recommendations to help shape effective strategies for meeting customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Generate actionable insights through metrics and dashboard development.
  2. Analyze business data to identify trends and correlations to inform strategic decisions.
  3. Provide insights to the Canada business and Product Management teams during initiative development and deployment.
  4. Create clear communication of recommended actions.
  5. Establish scalable, automated processes for tracking and reporting progress.
  6. Support the acceleration of Amazon Business's machine learning efforts for global scaling.
A Day in the Life

This role focuses on delivering insights that enable the Amazon Business team to make rapid, accurate, and impactful decisions. Responsibilities include reporting, analysis, and facilitating business reviews. We seek a passionate individual in data, analytics, and technology, eager to make a broad impact within one of the fastest-growing e-commerce businesses.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional or military experience
  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • Experience programming to extract, transform, and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
  • Knowledge of design of experiments and statistical analysis
  • Experience with AWS technologies
  • Proficiency in scripting for automation (e.g., Python) and advanced SQL skills
  • Knowledge of data science, machine learning, and data mining techniques
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate data insights into business strategies
  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership
