Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking a financial planning intern/co-op in Charlotte, NC. The role involves analyzing forecasted and actual results and supporting cross-functional teams to improve efficiency and reporting.

You will develop and maintain financial queries, assist with presentations, and track asset performance while gaining exposure to budgeting, planning, and reporting in a real-world energy company environment.

Qualifications

  • Four years experience related to financial management, budgeting, planning, and/or reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), especially pivot tables and other spreadsheet functions.
  • Knowledge of financial systems.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various groups to achieve business objectives in a dynamic growth environment.
  • Ability to understand financial concepts, models and the impact of operations on investments and financial results.
  • Ability to define issues, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and develop sound conclusions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with financial query tool (Business Objects - WEBI), Power BI and Commodities XL.
  • Previous financial or business planning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Aggregate and analyze forecasted and actual results, identifying trends and anomalies to provide business driver transparency.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to improve efficiency and organizational processes, and occasionally lead smaller projects.
  • Plan, gather business requirements, execute testing and assist with rollout for new systems and processes.
  • Develop, run and maintain financial data queries and compile data for reporting.
  • Assist with preparation of presentations and meeting materials.
  • Track and report business and asset performance.
  • Develop and deliver quality analytics and reporting for leadership.
  • Provide reporting and support for joint ventures.
  • Identify business needs and resolve issues with urgency.
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvement and propose alternatives.

Job description

  • Assist with preparation of presentations and other meeting materials

  • Actively seek to identify and meet business needs with a sense of urgency, taking ownership of the issues and problems until resolved

Additional Preferred Qualifications
