Job summary

Central Transport LLC seeks an experienced Night Operations Manager to oversee the Kansas City terminal dock, loading processes, forklift traffic, and palletized freight handling.

The ideal candidate will lead drivers and dock staff, ensure safety and DOT/OSHA compliance, and monitor KPI goals while managing overtime and shift coverage. An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred; 50 hours/week and night/weekend availability may be required.

• Experience in managing a team, preferably in transportation operations.
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience in LTL trucking.
• Ability to hire, coach, counsel, train and mentor employees.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee night-time operations of Kansas City terminal's dock.
• Lead loading, forklift traffic, and proper palletized freight handling.
• Monitor trailer cube and weight; ensure proper carrier loads.
• Provide leadership to drivers, dock workers and dock hands.
• Track dock production and KPI goals; manage overtime and schedules.
• Maintain safety in compliance with DOT/OSHA standards.

Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule of:

• Monday-Friday 3:00pm-1:00am

Salary ranges from:

• $85,000 - $105,000 + up to 15% in bonuses

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in managing a team, preferably in transportation operations


• A thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry


• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required, preferably in LTL trucking industry


• Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, and mentor employees


• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service


• High aptitude for technology


• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented


• Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills


• Must be willing to work 50 hours/week average


• Must be able to work any shift including nights and/or weekends and in any weather condition


• Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-pressure environment with multiple priorities


• An associate or bachelor’s degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee night-time operations of our Kansas City terminal's dock


• This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.


• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers


• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.


• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.


• Monitor hours and overtime.


• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.


• Ensure company operational model compliance.


• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
