Job summary

Zallpy Digital is a fully remote position seeking a senior backend engineer to develop and evolve Kotlin/Java tools for interface models, with a focus on transformation and validation, in a fully remote setup.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design model-to-model and model-to-text transformations, and ensure robust JSON serialization with schema validation while adhering to best practices in CI and testing.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience with Kotlin and Java.
• Experience with multi-module Gradle builds.
• Hands-on experience with model transformation (metamodels, schemas, domain models).
• Experience with schema-aware JSON serialization (JSON Schema, kotlinx.serialization, Jackson).
• Knowledge of Git, CI, and automated testing best practices.
• Advanced English for daily communication with an international client.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve backend tools in Kotlin and Java to import, transform, validate, and export interface models.
• Design model-to-model and model-to-text transformations between different interface formats.
• Implement JSON serialization and deserialization driven by schemas, with strong validation and versioning.
• Structure and maintain multi-module Gradle builds, keeping modules, dependencies, and releases organized.
• Write automated tests and keep the tooling reliable and well documented.
• Collaborate with the language and web teams so the models fit the editor and the API Studio platform.
• Take part in technical decisions, code reviews, and continuous improvements to architecture and quality.

Whatyouwilldo:

What we are looking for:

• Solid, senior-level experience with Kotlin and Java.
• Experience with multi-module Gradle builds.
• Hands-on experience with model transformation: converting, mapping, or generating structured models (e.g., metamodels, ASTs, schemas, or domain models).
• Experience with schema-aware JSON serialization (e.g., JSON Schema, kotlinx.serialization, Jackson with schema validation).
• Good knowledge of Git and engineering best practices: code review, continuous integration, and automated testing.
• Advanced English for daily communication with an international client.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Franca IDL or other interface definition languages (e.g., Protobuf, gRPC, OpenAPI).
• Automotive communication protocols and standards: SOME/IP, CAN, LIN, FlexRay, AUTOSAR, PDU, ARXML.
• Automotive tools and libraries such as vsomeip, CommonAPI, DBC files, Vector (CANoe, CANdb++, DaVinci), ETAS, or dSPACE.
• Xtext, EMF, or other language and modeling frameworks.
• Experience building code generators, parsers, or converters between technical formats.
