Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Backend/API Developer to design and build scalable enterprise APIs and shared backend services. The role centers on Node.js, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and PostgreSQL/RDS within a cross-functional team including QA, product, and analytics.

The ideal candidate will own API quality and maintainability, contribute to frontend work when needed, and help evolve the platform with Kafka, DynamoDB, and S3 as it grows.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering experience with a focus on enterprise-level APIs.
• Deep Node.js and AWS Lambda expertise.
• Experience with API Gateway, Step Functions, and PostgreSQL/RDS.
• Observability, performance optimization, and production ownership.

Responsibilities

• Build enterprise-level APIs for a centralized customer domain.
• Develop shared backend services accessed by frontend apps across the enterprise.
• Design and implement APIs using Node.js, AWS Lambda, and API Gateway.
• Create scalable backend services focused on reliability over BFFs.
• Work with Step Functions, PostgreSQL/RDS, S3, and Kafka/DynamoDB.
• Optimize database and application performance.
• Improve observability, maintainability, and reliability.

• Collaborate with a team of 3 developers, 1 QA, 1 Product Owner, and 1 Analyst.

Insight Global is seeking a Backend/API Developer for a top enterprise client. This candidate will join a cross-functional development team building a centralized customer domain and shared services that support applications across the organization. The primary focus will be designing and developing highly scalable, enterprise-level APIs using Node.js, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and PostgreSQL/RDS. The ideal candidate brings deep backend expertise, understands database performance and observability, and can take true ownership of application quality and maintainability. Experience with Kafka, DynamoDB, S3, and front-end development will be valuable as the platform continues to evolve.

Day-to-Day:

• Build enterprise-level APIs for a centralized customer domain
• Develop shared backend services that provide customer-specific information to front-end applications across the enterprise
• Design and develop APIs using Node.js, AWS Lambda, and API Gateway
• Build scalable, reliable backend services rather than application-specific BFFs
• Work with Step Functions, PostgreSQL/RDS, S3, and potentially Kafka/DynamoDB
• Optimize database and application performance
• Improve application observability, maintainability, and reliability
• Own development quality from design through ongoing application support
• Collaborate with a team of 3 developers, 1 QA, 1 Product Owner, and 1 Analyst
• Contribute to front-end work as needed, while maintaining a primary backend focus

Pay rate range: 60-65/hour
