HighLevel is seeking a hands-on Backend Engineer to join the Contacts Team, building scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices that power millions of interactions daily within our CRM platform.

You will own high-impact initiatives, collaborate with product and design, and apply best practices in distributed systems, caching, observability, and CI/CD. 5+ years in backend development with TypeScript/Node.js is required; experience with AWS or GCP is a plus.

About the Role:

The Contacts Team is at the heart of our CRM platform, managing the core infrastructure for contact records, views, filters, segmentation, and more. Every product surface (for example, automation, campaigns, pipelines, or reporting) interacts with Contacts. We’re building scalable, reliable, and flexible systems that power millions of interactions daily.

In this role, you will drive technical outcomes as a hands-on Individual Contributor. You will own high-impact initiatives across the Contacts domain.

Responsibilities

Backend Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Build high-performance, reliable microservices capable of handling large-scaleworkloads.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable production-quality code.
• Develop reusable components and services following engineering best practices.
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to system architecture.

System Performance & Reliability

• Optimize backend services for scalability, performance, and availability.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Improve system reliability through monitoring, logging, testing, and observability.
• Participate in incident resolution and root cause analysis when required.

Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other engineers to deliverhigh-quality features.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain engineering standards and improve code quality.
• Share knowledge and collaborate with teammates to solve technical challenges.
• Contribute to continuous improvements in engineering practices, testing, and SDLCprocesses.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend software development.
• Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Candidates with strong experience in JavaScript, Go, Java, Python, C#, or similarbackend technologies, and willingness to work extensively with TypeScript andNode.js, are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including schema design and queryoptimization.
• Knowledge of caching strategies, asynchronous processing, and message queues.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Sentry, ELK, orsimilar.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing, and debuggingtechniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on high-scale SaaS products.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, or similar distributedsystems.
• Experience optimizing backend systems for performance and scalability.
• Exposure to Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
