Senior Azure Platform Engineer
Location: 100% Remote, U.S.
Type: Direct Hire or 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $150,000 salary or $72-$75/hr W2 during contract
Schedule: Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP
We’re looking for a Senior Azure Platform Engineer to help build out an Azure environment that is still early enough for this person to have a real say in how it develops.
This is a hands‑on role, not just architecture and diagrams. You’ll own infrastructure provisioning, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, cloud security, networking, and the standards developers use to deploy into Azure. The goal is to build more of this capability internally and make it easier for application, analytics, automation, and AI teams to get solutions into production securely.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Build and manage Azure infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- Create reusable Terraform modules and standardized deployment patterns
- Design and maintain Azure landing zones, subscriptions, naming standards, tagging, and policies
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub
- Design Azure networking including VNets, subnets, DNS, routing, private endpoints, firewalls, and load balancing
- Implement Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities, Key Vault, and least-privilege access
- Support Azure SQL and other cloud platform services
- Improve monitoring, logging, backup, recovery, and infrastructure change tracking
- Automate repetitive infrastructure work using PowerShell, Python, or Azure CLI
- Partner with developers and technical teams to turn requirements into secure, scalable infrastructure
- Help establish Azure environments for new AI, automation, analytics, and internal application initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering experience
- Strong hands‑on Microsoft Azure experience
- Deep Terraform experience in production environments
- Experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of Azure networking and cloud security
- Experience with Azure landing zones and cloud governance
- Knowledge of Entra ID, managed identities, RBAC, Key Vault, and private connectivity
- Experience troubleshooting production cloud infrastructure
- Ability to work independently and make sound infrastructure decisions
- Strong communication skills when working with developers and non-infrastructure teams
Nice to Have
- Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or Azure DevOps certifications
- Bicep or ARM experience
- AKS or container experience
- Azure OpenAI or Microsoft Foundry experience
- Healthcare or another regulated industry background
- Experience building cloud platforms from the ground up
